I guess a pretty good case could be made that Cronin made bone-headed moves. Sure he is not done but, christ, I fail to see how he can do much at this point. IMHO he should be selling not buying.

Cronin made the moves he had to...which is dismantle the idiot roster that Olshey had built while getting the Blazers under the tax line and out of repeater tax territory

I think he should be holding. Not giving up future assets for current improvements, but also not moving guys out now just to clear up past mistakes.

We still have a chance to sneak into the playoffs and we can shoot our way into the second round. That would be a resounding success, at some level. It's not very probable, but it's possible.

The team should have traded Dame before we gave him the massive extension. The team should not have traded for Grant. The team should not have given Simons as much money as it did. The team especially should not have wasted money on Payton. But Cronin made those moves, and trying to sell those pieces now would hurt whatever chances we have for more-than-lucky-above-mediocrity this year, and it wouldn't really probably help us much in the long run as we'd have to do a last year-level benchfest to get a good draft pick at this point.

He said he was going to build a winner around Dame. .

I'm not calling you a liar, but did he say that? And if he did, what does that mean? Cronin does seem like the guy to come out and promise results. Most GM's won't say those types of things.

I seem to recall when he was asked about a full rebuild or trying to win with Dame, he said Dame was the center piece of the franchise and wasn't going anywhere.

Blazers will come back and stun the league.
Hottest team in the league over the next month.

Kind of nauseating watching the Clips/Mavs game and listening to Fratello rant and rave about how great Norman Powell has played for them this year.

At least we got that amazing prospect Keon Johnson out of the deal

Again, he openly said that this is an incomplete roster when he was finished with our off season. He then said he would evaluate the guys that we have in Chauncey's system and then make moves around mid-season and in this off season.

We'd be better off if he hadn't made any of those moves, I think. And if he had not been focused on being competitive in the near run, he could have made better moves for the future. He also would not have spent so much money on Dame and Simons and Payton.

So blaming Olshey is a bit silly in my opinion.

We would of got under the tax just with the cj trade.. clippers trade was a travesty. Stop bailing out Cronin.

But then he signed a replica of CJ to a $100 mil deal.

One of those guys needs to go or it’ll never work.

No Bamba, No Bol Bol.....that should have been 45-50. But no, have to keep jackin' up those '3's.

If 62 points on 89% shooting at the rim isn't good enough...

Powell has played 93% of his minutes at guard for the Clippers. He was a SF in Portland and he's no PG. And of course, keeping him would have Portland in the repeater tax next year

He should’ve been a SG like he is in LA. But this team has an affinity for small 2 guards who can’t defend

I don't have a direct quote, but if he's keeping Dame no matter what, wouldn't he be (by definition) a bad GM if he's not trying to win games and contend?

The key to what he's said, in my estimation, is less that he'd promise (or not) results, but that all his efforts would be centered around Dame.

His 4 FT’s didn’t win them the game. Did you expect him to go 0-4?

No, I would not expect him to go 0-4. Nor would I expect him to go 4-4. The law of averages would expect him to have gone 2-4 or 3-4.

Even one less point down the stretch changes those last possessions.

LOL...Olshey was a fucking idiot GM. I'll blame him for as many years as he was mismanaging the Blazers. So I have 9 years to go

I think Dame is still tradeable if the team wants to move towards youth. If you're going in that direction it would be smart to package him with GP2 or really shop GP2 in another deal.

I doubt that's the direction we're going to head in but Dame and Ant are about as complementary as Dame and CJ were so they can't stay together. I think Nurk could still be very useful in the league and is on a contract that reflects his value but Chauncey has him defending in space, that just doesn't work. He's either ineffective or in foul trouble.

how many FT’s did he make during the Magic’s 15-0 run to start the 3rd quarter. So much to gripe about kinda weird to focus on a 70% FT shooter making all 4 of his FT’s
