Grant's going to become the wedge issue on this roster moving forward that C.J. was.

I hope the Blazers have a handshake deal for him to come back, because losing him for nothing and not having the resources to replace what he gives you is a killer. That being said, he's barely worth what he makes now -- he looks like he's picked up Jusuf Lackofengagement Disease in the last 20 game with his questionable shot selection in the 2H of games and he seems to have stopped trying on defense; he just passed Ingram off to Dame constantly down the stretch.

The biggest problem with Grant, though, is he doesn't rebound. He doesn't rebound at all. When you're putting together a roster, you need to take that into consideration. Nurk can't be the only guy on your roster who rebounds. Even if you like Eubanks (although I wouldn't know why) or Watford more for their versatility, you have to make that sacrifice because otherwise you have a gaping hole in that composition of the team, and the Blazers do.
Oh we will have to retain him and we will have to get another forward that's a better rebounder than him and unless we fire Chauncey we also need to pick up a mobile starting C.

id keep an eye on miami. any chance at all that bam and/or jimmy become available, i'd make Grant/Simons/Nurk all available in a trade along with multiple picks.

Yeah. I don't think that trade makes the Blazers much better than they are now.

3.5 games out of 5th. Come on Blazers, you are so close without trying.

You can do this!

a mobile starting C would be a good idea with, or without Billups as coach

Nurkic is too paint-bound, too inconsistent, and too injury-prone to be the starting C Portland counts on

for the purposes of a tank:

Portland is bad enough, and poorly coached enough, that they don't need to shut down Dame to keep the losing alive. But they sure don't need to be playing him 38-40 minutes a night like they have lately

bam is pretty much the most ideal fit next to dame in the league and has been an all star.

dame/sharpe/MT/bam is a pretty decent start.

trade nurk for a PF who can somewhat shoot and defend and we will be better.

I thought you already traded Nurkic in your first unrealistic trade and now you’re somehow trading him again. That’s impressive for a player I’m pretty sure most teams don’t even want.

Somehow when Olshey decided on a big he chose Zach Collins over Bam

Nobody is maxing out Grant. We will be the team offering the most money and it won't be a good contract for us but it won't be a terrible one either. This is what we do.
It feels like Grant has been empty stats since beginning of January.

He may score 20+, but it doesn't feel impactful.

Currently 9th, 1.5 games out of the 6th spot.

In the lottery.

Chauncey is 56-88 as Blazers coach
I'm not saying that I know or even think that Chauncey can be a great coach but last season we were tanking and this season Joe put together a roster that definitely does not fit the philosophies Chauncey has said he intends to enforce. Maybe if Chauncey had Dame a few three and D guys and a mobile C then his record wouldn't be bad at all.

Seriously missing Nurk, Justise and Ant for a lot of games and them not even really being a good fit with what the coach is trying to do... I think some trades that Joe thought would be there weren't and he decided to chuck this season. Either we get a lotto pick and the Knicks pick or we get knocked out in the first round and have a bunch of future picks and the Knicks pick.

Fucking hopefully Cronin can get two trades that are good enough to spend the picks in this draft, guarantee the pick to Chicago next year and use the future picks in 2026, 28 and 30 this off season to build around Dame or use the two picks we'll have in this draft and then trade Dame for young players and future picks.

I think that he is not a second best player on a good or great team, he's a best player on the worst team in the league, a second best player on a late lotto team and a solid third or forth best player on a contender. I think you pay a guy like that 30M per season on a long deal if you want to be a contender and if he wants more he won't find it. I don't mind Grant on a CJ like contract at this point because it's years later, the cap jump from the TV deal is coming up and we have Ant and Nurk to match a better salary and Shae on his rookie deal. We also have guys like Thybulle and Reddish who we have control over this off season. If Jerami is your first or second best guy his stats seem empty but you put those two way skills in as your third or forth best player and those contributions are meaningful.

The worst thing that could happen to us if we're trying to build a contender around Dame is that Jerami walks for nothing.

Yep. Bingo. Correct.

I still think the path to a championship parade in Portland is through nailing a series of draft picks. Unpopular opinion maybe, but it’s true. It’s the most efficient way to create value for your team.

Trying would be us cutting Knox and signing Noel tonight.

Throw out making the playoffs: I think this makes sense just so you can evaluate the RFA flyers properly.

Told ya for a good couple weeks now. Grant is just mehhh. He had a very hot start and now has come back to earth. This is a max guy?

god no

National TV game. Blazers convince Anfernee to limp out there and light it up with Lillard. Ant rolls his ankle again. WTF ??

Grant is good and worth keeping. There are a lot of unknowns but that isn't one. Should we is another question.

I can’t believe I use to be hard on him. Get out from this organization Dame you deserve better
