I’m a little shocked at how negative everyone is already. What were you guys expecting? Let’s keep reminding our self of all the new players we have. New coaching staff. Sometimes it take time to gel and come together as a team. It’s not like other teams have looked good in the preseason. Deep breathes and good thoughts.

Where is the win prediction thread by the way?

Stotts is gone, let it go. Olshey is gone, let it go.

If you want to gloat, call them out. Don’t beat around the bush. That’s weak.

I agree both are gone, I didn't mean to imply they were still here.

The question of what was wrong is still being debated, so the past measures taken to correct the problems that still exist today are topical. If that upsets you, then I'm sorry.

It's fun how this team can go from a 50 win team to a 25 win team in a week.

I still think this is a team that if healthy, will finish around .500, but I could be way off.

Totally agree. I could see us getting 40.

Looks like my annual “Nurk is overrated and soft as a pile of shit” posts might come early this year. So sick of this guy.
Nurkic was 10 for 13 from inside the arc the first two games. Finished strong and played well. Tonight he sucked, but so did everyone else, and every non-star center has games like this.

I agree with you.

The way this roster is built, we are putting so much pressure on Nurk to perform consistently well throughout the entire season. That isn't fair to Nurk for a multitude of reasons (his past play, his possible maturity issues, and his injury issues). I would've liked for us to move on from Nurk, but the way our roster was setup didn't make that a reasonable option. Our failure to put another solid big around him is dangerous.

its the 3rd preseason game and we haven’t looked good in any of them. There’s definitely reason to be concerned

I'm not too worried.

Keep going…. You can use this for only a couple more days bro. Then you’ll have to change to “it’s only the first week of the season”

It will be what it will be.

Completely different situation. We were pissing away the prime of our superstar player. We had a window. That window is rapidly closing. Not even sure if it's still open to be honest. Have to see how Dame does.

I'm talking about completely starting over, but that doesn't mean that a coach gets 10 years. I'm saying that it might take 10 years to completely rebuild, but I would rather have that than to sit around and watch a treadmill team lose and under perform year after year.
If I read between the lines... you simply don't want to see Dame/Ant/Nurk lose every year. You'd rather see completely new guys lose every year. Is that right? I'm trying to figure it out. Paul died, we fired Stotts and Neil, we traded CJ, what do you want?

I must've read what you said incorrectly. I thought you said if they tore it down to the studs, you'd give them (ownership, GM, coaches, etc.) 10 years. That was hard for me to believe given your strong stance against even some of our better teams. But if I read it wrong, then I stand corrected.

I was saying I'd have low expectations for like 10 years. That doesn't mean the team would get a free pass to roll with a shit coach for 10 years.

So basically you're implying all coaches are shit coaches. With the exception of Pop and Phil? And maybe Pat?

I don't think we can build a championship team around Dame at this point. He's too old and we don't have enough assets to go out and get a second superstar. So yes, I'd rather blow it up and hopefully get some young guys that we can build around.

I wish we still had Paul, but he's gone. Jody is a shit owner. I want a new owner who can come in, hire their own GM with a new vision for the team, and that GM can hire a coach that fits their vision.

Instead we have an owner that inherited the team, we have a shitty GM who is from the same cancerous front office that we were stuck with for the past 10 years, and we have a coach who was hired by that shitty original GM.

I want fresh. Trade Dame. Trade Nurk. Trade Grant. Build around Ant and Sharpe. Give them as many reps as they need and maybe we get a shot at a generational talent in the draft.

I have to agree to this. Dame isn’t the same anymore

Misc thoughts:

Kings commentators are respectful and complimentary of our team.

Kings played great. We let them.

Jerami Grant is our preseason MVP.

Preseason games don't matter.

Nurk is allergic to dunking (finishing strong). It's frustrating.

Dame forced to put on a show for his family/friends in attendance. He'll be fine.

We have yet to see GP2. He will help tremendously.

Shaedon is the future, needs to be in the rotation.

We suffer from lack of familiarity. It shows. We should get better over time.

Keegan is legit.

One thing last the defense was playing half speed and everything that you don't want to see how to play defense. Offense wasn't much better either. But I do realize it's only preseason but they haven't shown me anything that there going get out the gate very quick. Plus the thing the bench scoring is going to be a problem this year.

Listened to a post-game stream tonight. 83 regular season games ago the stance was our schemes, adjustment, effort, and communication was bad. The confidence was high that this was all on the coach and that virtually any coach would be an upgrade. Tonight, it was the same complaints about the new coach, despite beliefs that this roster was most athletic and defensive-minded. Talk of a 6 hour film session as the solution (not how the NBA works) are not realistic or practical solutions.

I think we're simply seeing further proof that this team greatly over-achieved their talent level in the past.

At the risk of being tarred and feathered....maybe the overachievement was Dame and he just isn't that player anymore. Age and injuries always win in the end.

Huh? The only new guy is Grant - who was supposed to be a plug-and-play vet. Sharpie is a rookie playing garbage minutes, which is hardly going to upset team chemistry. GP the lesser is an irrelevancy in street clothes. Everybody else has had since the last trade deadline to gel.

What do we want? H.O.P.E.

I already have.
In my humble opinion. Chauncey Billups still needs to learn a bunch. I just don't feel he has had the kind of experience he needs to really run games yet. I'm hopeful he will find his groove and Lillard will also.
Again this is just my opinion but they need 20 real regular season games to start to get some real cohesion.

If this team is 10-10 after 20 games i will be really happy. If they are sitting at 5-15 then we really have some problems and might want to look at next year?

Pretty much spot on.

That makes more sense. As long as you're always wanting one or two heads to roll, all things will normal in this world!

This theory is possible for sure. The reason I find this slightly difficult to believe is that we would have to think he's a total liar about his health. Because in 2020-21 he said he had been dealing withthat core injury for a few years and he had a career best season. Now he's going off about how much better he feels than ever. I think some of the anti-flopping rule changes might be hurting him as he was sneaky good about using his ability to draw fouls to keep defenders from staying right on him.

Like most significant team improvements/regressions in sports, it's probably a few variables, not just one. I think it's very realistic over the last 2 seasons our coaching is worse, our talent level is worse, and our leader is in decline.
