Game Thread 2022-23 PRESEASON - GAME #5 - BLAZERS @ WARRIORS - OCTOBER 11, 2022 - TUESDAY - 7:00PM (PDT) ROOT

If I'm Golden State, I only shoot 3's the rest of the night.

Quite a difference in the passing between the 2nd/3rd units of these two teams.

I was thinking of making a long post breaking down all the things that concerned me about what I've seen in the preseason.

Then I got on my stationary bike for 5 minutes and watched a little more and came up with this:

What the Blazers are doing looks so basic that I can't imagine this is the system we're going to play in the regular season. There's no real team scheme on either end of the court, which doesn't jibe with what we saw last season, so I'm going to reserve my opinion for what I see once we have a few games under our belt.

If it looks like this once the games count, then you're going to probably see Dame develop a phantom medical issue that ends his season around Christmas and Chauncey will get fired pretty quickly, but it just doesn't seem to me too likely this is the approach we're going to have, so I'll hold back on the criticism for now.

You know Chauncey sucks as a coach because everytime Jabari Walker plays he does well and still gets no significant minutes

We need a good poster from Sharpe.

So we are intentionally not running a cohesive scheme for what purpose? To not give away our secretly awesome scheme that we’re saving for the regular season?

One fascinating thing about that alley-oop, once he got it in, he landed and his expression went right back to normal. No over the top celebration/excitement. Just back to buisness.

He seems like a subdued type person. Kinda like Khawi Leonard

Possibly. Something like that.

I just think that, implausible as it might seem, is more plausible than the Blazers hitting the floor and playing strictly iso or two-man game on offense with no action away from the ball and playing every man for himself with zero rotation pattern on defense. If the approach we're seeing from the Blazers is anything other than an indication of getting the rust off some guys and analyzing what the younger guys can do, then I'd almost have to believe Chauncey sees no hope at all with this team, thinks he made a mistake and wants to be fired ASAP. That just doesn't seem very likely to me.

SHAEDON FING SHARPE.
He's going to be special but we're going to lose a lot of games watching him get there....off the charts talent. Not an NBA defender yet by any stretch though and zero assists tonight

Are these kind of games doing anyone any good.

Shaedon is showing so much potential, and poise.

Yeah, it wasn't against starters, but it was against NBA talent.

Honestly, in his what, 5th NBA game, he looks like it comes easy to him. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets minutes by halfway through the season, and maybe even ends the season starting.

As long as they keep their pick...

I wasn’t able to watch the game. Hopefully there’s a Sharpe highlight package somewhere out there.

Not bad. Remember: 5 games since high school. The future is bright!
