I don't see a team willing to trade Wembanaya for Dame straight up this next offseason. Whoever gets him will likely be rebuilding themselves and people think he is a generational talent. If you really wanted to go after him you would want to deal Dame now for an unprotected 1st in 2023 (along with many other things, of course) and tank this season yourself.
But again, no would-be contenders have a worthwhile cache of assets to trade for him. I had suggested Washington before the draft (Avdija,Hachimura, their pick and future picks), but now that they've picked Davis I'm less interested.

Okay now I'm going to play the other side of the coin. Make the playoffs this year, convey our pick. Next year WE are the team making the godfather offer to compete with Dame/Ant/Little/Grant/Nurkic.

We should have done it last off-season, but whatever, I guess Tony Snell was worth it.

I brought Avdija up in another thread. He doesn't project to start in Washington and only has two seasons left on his deal. Wonder if hes available. Good defender who needs work offensively. Billups would be good for him, he has a history of helping wings out with their playmaking.

Because he is. He knows the art of negotiation. Those draft picks generally pan out too.

I can’t see how anyone can deny he’s a good GM

My beef with him is that he tends to only want to do trades where he fleeces the other team.

Obviously he was able to do that today..... but it doesn't always work out.

he's also the guy who traded a chance at brandon roy for sebastian telfair.

he's also the guy who wanted to trade 4 first round picks for justice winslow.

he's also the guy who screwed up a bunch of drafts after hitting gold with Tatum/Brown.

i just think he's a slimy creeper who is unscrupulous.

remember how AD and his camp said they would never play for boston with Ainge in charge after how he handled the Isaiah Thomas situation.

I think Ainge has been good at drafting. Have a lot of Boston friends. Happy to see him go.

So many did when some of us wanted him. It was dumbfounding.

Yeah he might have been a dirty vermin on the court. But his chops at player evaluator and making splashy trades can’t be denied.

Dude is premiere when it comes to assembling ball clubs.

No GM is going to have a 100% hit rate. Overall his track record is pretty damn good.

Tough titties for Davis.

Ainge got the Nets first rounder for Royce O’Neal, then five from MN. OKC part 2, but they are keeping Donovan Mitchell?

Offseason isn't over. Plus Mitchell is 25, with 3 years left guaranteed. He doesn't need to move Mitchell NOW.

The guy spent years acquiring all kinds of "assets" (and getting all kinds of pats on the back for it), yet out of all his machinations he got exactly one championship. And he only got that because his good buddy McHale was willing to shit all over the team he was supposed to be running (Minnesota), just so his pal could win a ring. Without the handjob from McHale, Ainge wins exactly nothing. He is waaaayyy overrated. That said, he did just fleece Minnesota again. But even a blind squirrel finds an acorn every now and again.......

@PtldPlatypus @RR7 @B-Roy @hoopsjock

does something like this comply with the CBA? does a team like Utah need more incentive?

Partial guarantee Bledsoe + Keon + future second for Gay?
Doesn't work.
The other team would have to have enough cap space or TPE to be able to take back all of Bledsoe's $19M contract (even though only $4M of it is guaranteed). Most teams would have to send out a minimum of ~$14M in contracts -> which Portland can not take (due to the hard cap rules).

Only viable Bledsoe trades are to Detroit, Spurs, OKC?, and maybe one or two others.

Five firsts if you include Kessler. Also Vanderbilt who's one of the most underrated defenders in the league. Beverley is an expiring but fits well next to Mitchell and Conley and makes every team hes on better. Beasley is a good spacer. Lol Connelly got worked by Ainge here imo
I wonder if Portland could find a way to get Vanderbilt in this trade.

You're probably not wrong. That said, he's worth waiting to see on...

We don't have Danny Ainge though.

I don't think that's the key though

there may be only one GM in the league who thinks pairing Gobert and KAT is a great idea worth 5 first's and some young prospects. Put another way, there is only one GM who slept thru the last 7 years of NBA basketball and demise of the big man, then woke up determined to make David Kahn look like a great Minny GM

That is quite the bar to clear when you wake up in the morning and wonder what you are going to accomplish for the day.

So our roster is basically set. Is Dame extending or not?

Not only did he get the one championship in 2008 but he completely rebuilt the team into the roster that made the Finals THIS year. Meanwhile, Blazers haven’t been to Finals in 30 years. When Danny Ainge was on the team!
