More disheartening to me is that during Will's acceptance speech he claims to be a 'vessel of love' and tried to justify his actions and then went on to apologize to a bunch of people but left out the one he needed to apologize to most, Chris Rock. If I'm WS I'm doing everything in my power to have that man by my side and squash it right then and there. That would have made for a great moment on TV and could have salvaged this whole ordeal. Instead Will went the other way with it and lost a lot of respect from a lot of people.

And don't forget, one of the reasons I'm sure the Smiths are on edge is all the drama that Jada brought on them with her Red Table Talk, airing out all their dirty laundry and leaving Will to be the butt of jokes. I can't imagine the love he has for that woman, because if my wife did that to me, I'm not sure we could go on.

Don't talk shit about someone's medical condition. That's not an ok joke to make. Hope Rock learned his lesson. Comedy has no place for that.
I am mixed on this, but I can’t agree with you here. I might be biased, but I grew up in my parents basement listening to my dad’s Red Foxx and Richard Pryor comedy albums. Thats the biz man….. If you are famous and in the spotlight, YOU ARE IN THE SPOTLIGHT!
No justification to hit somebody unless it’s self defense in my opinion.
I was raised on a school bus with kids cracking on eachother, their moms, holes in their shoes, fake IZOD shirts, NOTHING was off limits. Rule was, no fighting! Thats the code. In the hood we called in “stinging” on eachother.

What Chris Rock said was rough, but not unheard of. Go back and watch Ricky Gervias’ hosting.

As mad as you are, you can’t just hit people. Will NOT getting in trouble is going to look bad on the Academy.

Tell that to the kids that want to commit.suicide because of how much they have been bullied by others.

Sometimes people need to be socked in the face to get it.

@Propagandist chill with the insults

@SlyPokerCat both you and prop need to chill with the back and forth.

Jada has a medical condition. Some see it as a disability. Some see it as not. Either way it was a tasteless joke by Chris Rock which we can agree on.

Rock shouldn't have said the joke. Smith shouldn't have gotten violent.

Let's agree to disagree and move on if you can't have a conversation. We don't need flame wars over this.

I find it interesting that they had rehearsals in which Rock must have said the same joke? Why didn't Smith call him out then and tell him it wasn't ok, and that he couldn't say that during the Oscars?
No they don’t do their routine in rehearsal a lot of times. I have worked a couple Oscars and Grammys. They don’t want people to hear their jokes.

What a crazy thing to say! Are you listening to yourself?

Also, aren't you conflating things a wee bit? He made a joke. A JOKE!!! He didn't even mention her condition or anything of the sort.

The literally bully in this scenario is the guy who played Muhammed Ali slapping 105lb, 57 year old Chris Rock for doing his job.

You guys aren't going to agree. Let's move on.

Saying mean things won’t get you thrown in jail. Hitting somebody will. Having means things said to you won’t fracture and eye socket, hitting somebody will. Having mean things said to you will leave an emotional mark or scar, getting punched in the jaw will as well.

It was a tasteless joke. It was a shameful response. Chris Rock has made jokes about Jada before. Jada didn't like it and Will Smith felt like he was given no choice but to respond publicly and decisively.

Chris Rock responded incredibly well... Will Smith hurt his legacy...

Saying mean things can cause emotional damage to where kids commit suicide. Punching someone can make them realize.not.to do it again.

Making fun of a medical condition and/or a disability should never be a joke. Sorry.

I will, but really? You removed my post because what? How about this: @SlyPokerCat's posts make me feel like I'm in an alternate reality where it's okay to be ironically idiotic...?

The look his wife had, was what triggered him. Big Mistake.
When the look happens, men will react in various way!

I saw him chuckle at the joke, and then saw the look on Jada's face....THEN reacted in a violent way. My gut reaction was that, perhaps, Will and Jada might have some personal, deeper issues going on, so (in light of his initial chuckles) he felt compelled to way overreact in that manner. Dunno.

I think you are taking this a bit far in my opinion. It might be how you were raised or who around? Did you read my post earlier about my bus rides to school? Talking shit about people was day to day life for us growing up. Some guys who weren’t part of the crew whould get mad, but quickly realized guys were all just messing around.

I had an ex girlfriend my senior year of HS who took her own life about 4 months after we split, so I’m not numb to suicide. I understand it.

I was trained as a military policeman.

So I can kinda get a grip on all sides of this.

Will Smith was in the wrong here 100%.

Had Chris Rock confronted Jada in the parking lot and grabbed her arm…..BINGO. There’s the green light to get smacked.

No excuse whatsoever for violence over words bro.

Just my opinion.

Look, it's going nowhere. You have one opinion he has another. It's become a flame war. Yes, I deleted your post because you used a personal insult. Different posts elicit different feelings. That's ok. But, we can't use personal insults.

I respectfully disagree. But I can understand where you are coming from.

The conflating is so insulting to people with actual disabilities. Borderline slap-worthy by some people's metrics...

I don't completely disagree, but he is allowed his opinion.

Speaking of punching, I want to punch every one of those soccer moms that hold their phones wrong when they record anything.

That's more for sharing on phones versus on a TV screen. Its kind of a pain deciding which way to shoot because if you want to do something on more formats versus something for instagram stories only
