Chauncey has this team playing some elite defense the last few games.

Held Utah to 8 points below their average.
Held Milwaukee to 13 points below their average
Held Indiana to 18 points below their average
Held Cleveland to 17 points below their average and under 100

With the growth in Camara, Walker, Scoot and Sharpe and the return of Ant...Easily.

And I shouldn't leave out the growth of Reath...The guy is balling
Really?!? This team showed both what they are capable of at their best tonight and what they are capable of on the other end of the spectrum. I think tonight was great but talk like this is just setting yourself and others up for big time disappointment and probably blaming coaching when it's actually just the fact that this team is too young and doesn't yet have a superstar to count on when that is needed.

We've won a third of our games. Let's see what happens when teams stop relaxing against us. I still think we'll have one of the worst records in the league when this season is over and I'm fine with it.

I think you're confusing the Trail Blazers without Scoot and the Trail Blazers with Scoot.

Clearly, those are 2 different teams. The team without Scoot was really bad.

The team with Scoot is 3-1 since his return, and 5-1 with Scoot overall after dropping the first 3 games of the season.

Beat Toronto on the road.
Beat Detroit on the road.
Blew out Utah at home.
Tough loss in Milwaukee.
Win in Indiana.
Win in Cleveland.

4-1 record on the road.

That 1 loss was a winnable game against an Eastern Conference contender.

Playing consistent solid defense can win a lot of games in the regular season if you have enough offense to go with it.

(By the way, I'm not saying Scoot is the MVP, just an important missing piece.)

Cool... if we're great this season you won't find me complaining. I'll gladly eat crow. I'm just saying that from my perspective teams have been taking us lightly and that is about to change so I don't want to see a bunch of you in here expecting unrealistic shit melting down and putting it on Chauncey if/when we are losing a lot of games... with Scoot and with Ant. I also think we'll have a worse record at the trade deadline than we did last season and we can expect Joe to complete the youth rebuild and that point. But hey again I'll be happy to be wrong.

Blazers are starting to have an identity. It's so refreshing to have a capable bench
They're going to get better with age too.

Next year, Camara and and Walker will both have an additional year of experience. Mays and Reath both seem like great third string guys that we can bring back on the cheap at any time. Whether or not Scoot is still on the bench remains to be seen. Add another rookie or two to this bench like Tyler Smith and/or Cody Williams, and this is a very solid bench for many years to come. We still don't know what Rupert or Kris will be yet.

It helps to have someone who can identify talent in the draft.

I agree. There’s a fine line with tanking and building a losing culture. If we have one of the worst records in the league but we are playing like this, I would consider that a major success. We don’t want to be like Detroit where years and years of tanking has permeated the organization and fostered a losing culture.

I think our absolute floor this season will be 26th. We’re not going to be worst than Detroit and Washington. The Spurs should be better but they are low key tanking. Chicago will probably blow it up and suck. Memphis will probably surpass us once Ja comes back. We’ll probably be in the same tier as Utah and Charlotte.

If Markkanen is playing with Kessler back, we'll see on Saturday if we're in the same tier as the Jazz.

I'm still not sure if we have that. He didn't draft Camara and Rupert and Murray haven't done anything yet.

Rupert is the youngest player on the roster. His style of play fits the team perfectly. He just needs to refine his game and be consistent, like any player hoping to be in the rotation.

Cavs shot 21% from deep.

That will be an interesting matchup. Utah will probably lose in Minnesota today and want to make up for that and their blowout loss to the Blazers.
They haven't played well on the road, but Utah beat the Pelicans twice in their last two home games.

Markannen and Clarkson are not playing today.

good god...What a bunch of miserable sods. This place.
I had a ton of fun watching that game but when it was over, I had to deal with a bunch of people talking about our team being in the playoffs. Then I had to come to the realization that when we don't come close to the playoffs the same people talking crazy tonight will be melting down and looking to place blame where no blame needs to be placed.
