not sure there's a market for a "max" center who doesn't try, but this attitude is absolutely awful to have around our kids. I'd even explore a 1 for 1 with BK for Ben Simmons.

If the question was, "Deandre, since you have a max contract do you think that means you have to prove you're worth it?" Then I honestly don't have a problem with the answer. At no point did he say he wasn't going to try, in fact he says in the very brief quote that he'll, "... continue to be a max player." Meaning the dude expects to play at a level that will earn him another max deal which is going to take effort.
