Game Thread 2023-24 Game #6 - BLAZERS VS GRIZZLIES - NOVEMBER 3, 2023 - FRIDAY - 7:00 PM PST - ROOT (2 Viewers)

Welcome to our community

Be a part of something great, join today!

The Celtics, Bulls, Lakers, Pelicans and Trail Blazers have never played on an alternate court in their franchise histories.

Nice seeing Sharpe play well. I'm spending most my time looking at what Ayton and Camara are doing.
Not spending much time worrying about wins is allowing me to watch with a little better perspective on what is happening on the floor.
A little more veteran team on the court this game with Scoot out might have a positive effect on the way Sharpe plays the SG position.

Cheers! Great perspective!

The lack of color contrast on this court tonight might be glaring.

Desmond Bane is #3 in NBA 3PA. He has become a full fledged chucker. Kris Murray's brother is top ten in the launch that puppy category.

Half their team is out. Memphis is desperate for a win. So desperate they signed Biyombo using an injured player exception. The Blazers can beat this team though.

These next two games are the epitome of "over-reaction" on both sides.

We win: we're .500 omg! And then OMG WERE 4-3 WE GOT A CHANCE.

We lose: we're the worst fucking team ever. Lose again? Trade sharpe, ayton, and that dumbass ball boy who clearly jinxed us.

...and that PITA mod who predicted all this...

Hasn't been much of an update. Chauncey said after the game that his ankle was sore. It's possible he plays but likely he misses at least a game. He is currently listed as day to day.

Conspiracy theory....

Ankles good enough to play, but coach wants to see Brogdon with the one's from the get go. This is called, "soft insertion".

Brogdon starting?

quick check: this season, Brogdon has a 30.7% assist rate which is his 2nd highest ever and way above his 23.6% career average. He also has the lowest turnover rate (8.6%) of his career (11.4%). So he's doing very good work as a PG

on the other hand, for those that see 'ball-hog', Brogdon has the highest usage rate of his career at 29.2%. His previous high was 25.9% and his career mark is 22.4%. This trend is evident in his FGA as he's gunning up 28.6 shots/100-possessions when his career mark is 20.2 shots/100-possessions and his previous high was 24.0

so, it's kind of a mixed bag; he's preforming really well in PG skills, but he's detracting from that by calling his own number too often in ISO (IMO-OhNo)

the other concerning thing is that he has a career low in TS%. But that's directly correlated to his career low FTrate. And that is correlated to the fact he is way below his career average in rate of shots at the rim. This season, he's only shooting 11.4% of his shots at the rim; his career average is 33.5%. Worse is he's, for some reason, 'settling' for the inefficient mid-range shots. He's taking 38% of his shots in the zone from 10' to the arc. His career mark is 18%

Chauncey needs to figure out how to get Brogdon operating in his comfort zones

These next two games don't mean anything really because the following 17 games are against teams that should kick our ass. I'm sure we'll get some surprise wins in there but hopefully people won't forget we're a rebuilding team and want to trade away two of our best pieces we have to build around.

"We lose: we're the worst fucking team ever. Lose again? Trade sharpe, ayton, and that dumbass ball boy who clearly jinxed us."

Can't you make a point with something someone actually said?

Or is your brain telling you someone suggested trading Shaedon Sharpe?

Bruh these are future over reactions. I made that abundantly clear

Play him alongside better players?

Don't you think part of his ball hogging is because we get down in games and we need someone to step up? Not saying Brogdon is a star, but that is what stars do. He was a plus 17 on Wednesday and a + 9 on Monday. My guess is his "gunning" is up because the quality of teammates is slightly down......especially compared to last year when he was the 6th man of the year.

Exactly right. He is playing whatever role is needed, and usually when he comes into the game, we are needing someone to hit shots and settle down the offense.

We aren't giving up as many pts when Brogdan is in the game, he is an impact player. Best pt guard on the team in my view.

I really wasn't one of those complaining about Brogdon's alleged ball-hogging. I just noticed that his usage and FGA were way up from his career averages. His assist and turnover rates are pretty good

yes, he's on a much worse team but I think an argument can be made he probably shouldn't be posting these sets of numbers:

Brogdon is by far Portland's best facilitator at this point in time. He shouldn't be leading the team in FGA and usage while also posting below average efficiency. The Blazers need him to run the offense and create scoring opportunities for teammates more than they need him to call his own number at that high a rate

One area I'd like to see the Blazer use his shooting more, is open 3-point attempts. Several of our players are dribbling into traffic near the hoop and there should be a lot more kick-outs to 3-point shooters like Brogdon.

I am not a betting person but Memphis -3.5 is insane. If Washington state allowed wagers, I would put big money on the Blazers winning.

4-3 we'll hear contending team yappers. Foundation of the Championship.
