I mean yeah Sharpe can swing to forward, I just thought that would be SF not PF, and Simons can swing up a position, which I assume was from PG to SG - not SG to SF. I didn't realize this is how we are rolling with the quad guard lineup. Somewhere Neil Olshey is smiling in approval.
Sharpe grew 6 inches, confirmed!!

Did you see how much Max thinks he is worth -- 16m -- like WTF is going on in the NBA but prolly cause not many solid players on the market this off season so they want more. It's no wonder the Blazers are looking at other options like Hall over sea's if slightly above average players want that type of money then Cronin can tell them to go pound sand.

First thing will be to sign Jerami Grant. But I can't get too excited about paying $30,000,000 to a PF who is in a 10-way tied for 133rd in the league for rebounding. Yuck.
I'm REALLY hoping for $25 mil/year.

Strus played SF his whole time in Miami and never got played off the floor even in the finals.

Our rebounding would be anemic though.

max struss 3-point shooting is inconsistent (if he was consistent, youd like to have him, but hes not)

37.1% in three seasons on 6 attempts per game

Seen a lot of rumors surrounding the Blazers and Derozan in trades. I’m not sure I buy most of them, but the common theme is Derozan and Draymond in Portland and Simons/Sharpe traded.

Don’t you take Dames word for it? If you sit and have a meeting and Dame theoretically signs off on such a trade, don’t you listen to him? Or any trade in general. They meet regarding the “direction” of the team, you tell your Franchise cornerstone and future greatest franchise player of all time what your plans are, and listen to what he has to say…Right?

Not even saying these rumors are legitimate or that Dame feels that way. I’m just going to keep it in mind going into FA.

We should expect to see a lot of movement by the Blazers given what we’ve heard and the commitments they have made to Dame. Maybe the FO has changed their view after having what could be looked back on as the biggest theft by any team in any draft. The promise is definitely there, and so are the hopes to compete.

I think you can pretty much guarantee that there will be some news regarding roster changes once FA starts going off.

Back before the draft some Blazers edge writer was talking about Derozan and the #3 pick. I’ve seen a few articles from other locations talking about what is basically their ESPN Trade Machine scenarios which “work”.

Seen a few were talking about Bradley Beal, which is obviously false now. If anything it just shows that there’s a perception that we have a drop off at the guard position after Dame. I don’t disagree. He hasn’t even played a SL game and I’m going to say that I think it would be a crime to play Simons over Scoot. Any move that sheds Simons contract is a +

You move forward with Scoot and Dame and look to upgrade the front court situation.

Where are the rumors besides fans?

Only can come to PDX in a sign and trade. I think it would likely be Simons going out right?

I guess Nurk and Little going out and Blazers using MLE on a center would work too. Don't see why Miami would want those guys though.

Strus would be another stupid move. Allergic to signing anyone taller than 6'9.

Think Strus is exactly the type of players Dame is looking for. But we need many of these in the rotation and we'd likely have to overpay to get just one.

So nothing about Sharpe and a bunch of fans like us throwing shit at the wall? The word "rumors" feels like its doing a little too much heavy lifting in your post there...

I don’t think it’s much more than fans aside from Blazer fans voicing their thoughts. I’d be surprised if Derozan was in Portland next season.

I’m also not for moving Sharpe, and hope that is understood. But I do acknowledge that he’s probably our best ‘trade bait’. He’s probably the reason we turn down a trade for Embiid or Zion or anyone people want to talk about.

The writers outside of Portland were the ones mentioning trades involving Sharpe, they weren’t ESPN or NBA writers.

A lot of FA is going to come down to the belief of Sharpes future. Dude just said he’s ready to start. I don’t doubt it…

Scoot will gel with Dame better than Simons has. The chemistry will be better, book it.

I don’t think you entertain trades for Sharpe.
I think you take whatever makes some sense if you can move Simons.

Wonder how Pissed fans will be if we trade one of our prized young players (Scoot or Sharpe) for a player like Derozan????? I know I would be especially since it still wouldn’t make us contenders.

will fans turn on Dame at some point if we do a trade like that?

I guess other idea for Strus is full MLE. I think it now starts around $12 million and can go 4 years with raises? Doesn't quite get to $16 million but gets close, probably ~$55 million total. The full MLE is way more than the 2 year $10 million total of the tax MLE.

DeRozen would be fine but there is no way we should consider Sharpe or Scoot. Ant and maybe we get our pick back or just future picks is the most. Chicago fans like the idea of Ant for him straight up.

It does help the position logjam for the Blazers but doesn't really get the team any closer to contending because we still would have major defensive/rebounding issues. Would also have less salary flexibility and be older.

Like with everything, it'll depend on the ultimate outcome -- both of the trade itself as well as how it plays out.

If adding DDR somehow gets us a title, I think we'll all live with that.

If Sharpe becomes more the 2nd coming of Gerald Green and not, say, Kobe, I think we'll all live with that.

If somehow a lot more value than just DDR comes with a Sharpe trade, I think we'll all live with that.

But yeah, in a vacuum, a Sharpe for DDR trade is about as non-starter for me as I can conceive...

Strus shot 31.9% on threes in the playoffs on 135 attempts. He was better in the regular season at 35% but thats still not amazing. I guess I'd be good with him for the MLE but a sign and trade giving him a larger contract possibly overpaying as well as losing an asset such as Ant doesn't seem like a good move.

Strus would shoot a better 3pt% here

I’d rather have Tyler Herro
