Scoot was scratching his head at the free throw line while the guy he's guarding was 12 ft away shooting uncontested threes...he made Ant look like a good defender. He loses his man on defense way too much. Scoot seems disengaged if he's not doing layup drills. I realize he's not NBA ready yet, but the hype isn't helping his cause
I hope he's not butthurt because he's getting trashed on the internet. Unplug and play! At least Chauncey is not handing him a starting gig, unlike last season.

That's a bit harsh. If you take away the three-pointer he had to shoot at the buzzer he was 7-17 with just two turn-overs. He made some good plays. If teammates could hit open threes he'd have more assists. Like Billups said, nobody really played well but singling Scoot out as terrible is disingenuous. He was mediocre. Still needs to finish better at the rim.
It's no accident that the team, which had looked great in the opening minutes with Ant, completely went to shit when they subbed Scoot in for Ant. And I say that as somebody who is very far from an Ant-fan.

The outcome of the game was depressing, no doubt, but I'm not really in agreement with most of the takes that the defense was lazy. Our guys were hustling from the get go, but once GS hit warp speed with their ball movement and player movement (Snapper has to be smiling down), we were in chase mode and constantly out of position. That's lack of experience, not effort.

A consolidation trade or three definitely needs to be made once a direction is figured out for the team. It's a roster full of 3rd and 4th options. As currently constructed, they need to win with defense. Deni is perhaps the only one who looks like a solid 2nd option, but I'm not thrilled with how careless he sometimes gets when pushing the pace, and how unreliable his shot mechanics appear. I've got to think last year's big jump in shooting percentages was an aberration, not the new trend.

Not to mention, it's got to be incredibly frustrating to get fouled with no call and then race down the court only to be called for a foul with the exact same level of contact.

Scoot had lots of issues last night, but I wish people would stop using +/- as a gauge for a single game. It's a useless stat until about half a season is the sample size.

as HCP pointed out earlier in the thread, Brandin Podzeimski led Golden State in +/- with a +34 and he scored exactly 0 points while shooting 0-5.
Quality post in spite of not using my name correctly FAMS! It’s @THE HCP

I think that was Grant being fouled by Draymond Groin (welcome to the club, Deni!) at one end, then Camara getting whistled for a lesser version of the same thing at the other end? I might be remembering wrong.

That was certainly one. A bit harder to track when you're at the game but it felt like it kept happening.

Few posters miss any of my posts, but in case you're the rare exception, read my post from the 1st half of the game...Green took painful revenge on Avdija, the same as he's done with many others over the years.

Draymond Green is the dirtiest player in the league. He fouled Avdija, threw a tantrum, got a technical, continued the tantrum, Kerr called time out to prevent a 2nd tech.

A couple of playing minutes later in a scramble under the basket for ball control, Green punched Avdija in the soft tissue between the shoulder and chest. The refs called Av for the foul, in a makeup call to Green's tantrum. Avdija writhed in pain on the floor, then kept playing, but he played soft the rest of the half, and they moved ahead about 5 more points.

Deni's pain helped the momentum swing toward the Warriors.

The offense broke down when he touched the ball IMO. It’s just that. My opinion that he was pretty terrible on both ends.

We should all be happy, we lost! This is the ONLY goal for the season.
I agree. I loved watching the young guys and will hope to see some growth over this season. Make no mistake we NEED to lose this year.

People that were hoping for some Cinderella run will just need to adjust their expectations.

You can lose and still show some fight and pride. It’s hard to lose and look really ugly doing it.
Not when the end goal is losing.

In all seriousness, them playing that lethargic on opening night tells me more about Chauncey than anyone else.

Has he lost them?

I think the more important question is if he ever had them.
A snarky yet actual legit question. That’s impressive. This moves you into THE HCP and I territory …..take that as you will. THE HCP took it with extra butter. Chauncey hadn’t given anyone on the team a reason to buy in when hired…other than playing career.

I was kinda surprised at the gall of someone to come into our house and tell us to sit down when were about to cheer on our team getting introduced??? But she was not willing to stand herself???? Like really???

She was cute too, but sooo ugly….

Also. Im an old fart. I dont do that twitter or ticktok shit. Im so old im still on myspace!

Someone earlier mentioned Clingans stats for the game, go check out stats for the top three picks.

0-5 from three. Worst +/- in the game despite leading his team in scoring.
did you happen to notice Podzeimski's line? In 25 minutes, 0-5 from the field & zero points, 7 boards, 4 assists, 1 steal, 3 TOs & a +/- of +35!

I saw Deni go down and grab his junk in pain. But when I immediately reviewed the incident expecting to see Green hit him there, I saw nothing of the sort. Maybe it was akin to the phantom mystery punch that Ali knocked Liston out with, but again I didn't see anything resembling a punch and the camera angle was pretty clear. If Draymond punched a someone it would have blown up immediately on social media, but that didn't happen...

I prefer honey-butter. :)

Replay cut short of showing it fully, but it looked to be a kick not a punch. Straight leg extension, partially blocked from view by another player.

Yep. Straight leg kick to the nuts. For sure deliberate, IMO.

Okay, kick not punch. My point remains: Green didn't like his technical foul, and waited a couple of playing minutes to retaliate. If he'd done so immediately, the refs would have connected the 2 events. But because he waited to act out his anger, they missed it and called Avijda for the foul. Green does this all the time because he gets away with it. Remember Nurkic lying on the floor in pain last season? Later Green and Curry interviewed about it and smirked at Nurkic.

Dirty player, dirty team, fuck the Warriors. Plus...their broadcasting team is so conceited. They think the team is still the champion or something.
