You going to give Coach Billups credit for this FAMS?
Sure.

I will also give him credit for taking Anfernee Simons out of the starting unit and replacing him with Deni Avdija for the next game.

Anfernee should be benched. He starts shooting 48% from the field and he can start.

man , memphis is spoiled for talent - their squad is deep and improving....
updated my sig for like the first time in about 5yrs
For those of us who have people’s signatures turned off…..please share!

I think the answer is a question. Why did we miss so many threes? Were they wide open or contested?
I don’t recall many open threes compared to them.
No…. The answer to why we loss…..wait for it……They are a more talented team.

We do not seem to be a good three point shooting team..
The thing is FAMS….we knew this the first week of SEPTEMBER. Nothing has changed. As long as you/we accept this, games like tonight and whats gong to happen in Indy in 40 hours will not be, nor should be a surprise.

No, the first is what we call a checkable fact…. The second is an opinion.

Both are opinions. I’d argue when we lost to them by damn near 50 and we were completely healthy we had comparable talent on the court.

They smoked us with guys like Jay Huff.

How does a "star" player play 41 minutes, take 25 shots and take only 1 free throw?

Simons is shooting 30.7% on 3-pointers this season (slightly lower in November).

Banton is shooting 39.6% on 3-pointers this season.

Why is Simons starting? He's getting a HUGE pass from Billups.

Pretty sure Ayton will get the same Billups treatment when he and Clingan are both healthy.

You keep running with the opinion that we have more talent then Memphis…..and let me know how that turns out for you FAMS!

Look at the two starting lineups when the Grizzlies smacked the Blazers by 45 and tell me that Memphis had the talent advantage. They had Jaren Jackson Jr who was the best player on the floor. But then they had Pippen Jr, Jaylen Wells, Santi Aldama and Brandon Clarke.

Main bench player Huff and Laraivia.

We had Simons, Sharpe, Grant, Ayton and Camara.

Main bench players Advija and Robert Williams.

I don’t see a huge talent advantage.

They’ve boat raced us twice.

You aren’t very high on our roster. Without Morant and Bane. We have similar talent level if we’re healthy. Which we were when they smacked us around by almost 50. Unless you think Jaylen Wells, Pippen Jr. Huff and Laraivia are some diamond in the roughs.

I’m not high on our roster either. But what Memphis trots out there without Morant and Bane isn’t anything special.

Would you rather have Pippen Jr or Simons?

Jaylen Wells or Sharpe?

Ayton or Brandon Clarke?

and we have actually won more games at this stage than most people thought we would, we will have a lot of stinkers like this but frankly that's expected. now just to trade some of these guys

Watched 10 minutes of the game and it was dreadful, skipped ahead saw it turned into a blowout. Sounds like it was the same as the first 10 minutes all night.

Some of our wins have us look like a team that could almost compete for a playin spot. Many of our losses have us look like by far the worst team in the league and one of the worst offenses in a decade.

Sharpe had a bad night shooting the ball. So that means he's not a primary scorer? One of the hallmarks of a primary scorer is that they can still get more points than shots on a bad night. Maybe even on a very bad night. Look at the drastic difference between Anfernee Simons and Shaedon Sharpe.

I agree, however... the thing I've noticed as a real drag on SS's offensive game going into this season has been his handle & unfortunately it doesn't look to have improved much this year. That he gets picked often leads to him not being aggressive getting around defenders limiting him to single quick moves to free himself or, failing at that, moving the ball. A better handle would open up all sorts of scoring opportunities for his jumper and drives to the hole and make him a more legit option as the clock winds down. Likely injuries limited his ability to truly work on this hole in his game the past offseason, but putting in that work is how he levels up.

Injuries matter.

I'd assume he's in confusion protocol and needs to clear it. Should be fine eventually, not an injury related to knees or joints.
As it pertains to our vets, we're all in confusion protocol.
  • The GM is confused about what they're worth to our team and to others;
  • The coach is confused about how to best use them on the floor;
  • The players are confused about who should be getting the most shots;
  • The fans are confused about why they're still on the team
Confusion abounds everywhere.

Yeah, this IMO nowhere close to a max guy, unless he really improves as the season goes on, which I hope he does. Deni is worth a good bit more now than Shae, and what does Deni avg - 13.75 mil per. I know some stupid contracts are being given out and a lot of them are regretted very quickly. I know we need a alpha scorer type guy, but Shae so far does not seem like he's it - please prove me wrong SS!

Sharpe's had flashes he looks like a star, taking over games and scoring efficiently against great defense. But most of the time he looks like an average role player and sometimes even worse than that.

It has been fun watching these guys click out there and win a couple I didn’t think we could.

I have really enjoyed watch Deni and how versatile he is and how he contributes in so many ways, especially now as he is settling is and his shot is starting to fall. He's been quite good at small ball C as well
