I don't mind them being good dudes. No matter how scrappy we are right now we aren't winning in the playoffs this post season and both Jerami and Ant can contribute to playoff wins if they're in the correct roles. Also they're being forced into roles they don't fit into on this roster.

Jerami is a 3 and D plus starter who should be allowed to focus on defense by being the fourth or fifth in the pecking order on offense for a team ready to win in the playoffs. I don't know where the fuck he fits anymore but I have zero access to front offices around the league.

Ant is either a microwave off the bench or an offensive weapon starting on a team surrounded by good defenders and at least one guy better than him at initiating offense (Orlando is so obvious).
Ant IS surrounded by good defenders and Deni can initiate the offense. That’s why we’re winning.

I was just as frustrated because they had mouse in the house on Ant. They involved Ant in just about every pick and roll. They abused him, we got the win but at what expense.

While these wins are nice our two future franchise players have to be questioning their roles. No matter how good Scoot is playing he keeps getting benched and Sharpe has gone from starter to 19 minutes and no role in last 15 minutes of game even when they needed a shooter on the floor they left him on bench.
Sharpe played 32 minutes two games ago. Every game is different. He’s a big part of what we’re doing. He won’t only play 19 minutes every night.

There is little doubt in my mind that Deni is the difference maker on this team. Yes, there are always multiple factors involved, but if you had to choose one player, that if hurt, would have the biggest negative effect on this team's ability to win.......it would be him IMO.

Agreed. Camara is right there too. If people thinking we’ll be tanking if we trade Ant and Grant, they’re not paying attention. Deni/Camara are the engine and Scoot/Sharpe will more than cover what Ant and Grant bring to the team.

Watching last night's game answered (to me) what we need to add to this core, given the common view that we have 3 strong centers, 2 strong forwards (3 if you count Grant going forward), and 2 high-ceiling guards (3 if you count Ant going forward). We seem to be set at the forward and PG positions that the upcoming draft is loaded with, but we lack an alpha scorer.

The answer? A Devin Booker clone. Someone constantly moving, sticking shots regardless of how many touches, never bogging down the ball movement, and playing plus defense. He would be an amazing fit with this group. To some extent, that's what we hope Sharpe becomes, except that he seems to lack the aggressive mentality part. It's not Ant, because his shooting swings wildly between 10% and 90% to average out around 40%, and that doesn't work as the needed consistent threat.

Obviously, Booker isn't going anywhere. But, Beal is basically Booker-light and he's the most available player in the league. His contract is awful and his health is always a concern, but I could see this group going on a playoff run this year with him added. (And I bet he has a positive view of the roster after the past two games, so his no-trade clause shouldn't be an issue.) Not that I think he's the one we should actually target, but it's worth considering if there's no one else on the horizon who fills that niche.

Sharpe is an alpha scorer. Be patient.

Posted by Wizenheimer in the "Starting Point Guard" thread:

last night Simons played as many minutes as Scoot and Sharpe combined. In that game:

TS%: Scoot .670...Sharpe .666...Simons .366
net rating: Scoot +15...Sharpe +7...Simons -24.0

as long as Chauncey is coach and Simons is onthe team, we'll continue to see this imbalance. Prepare for it to continue next season too. I made a joke about it in the game thread, but in a way,Simons is blocking both Scoot and Sharpe from starting. That, and of course Sharpe's baddefense moved him to the bench while Ant's evenworse defense kept him starting

See, and people are complaining that Chauncy is ruining the tank by playing Ant. Not so. Scoot and Sharpe ruined the tank...

Beal for Grant and Timelord plus we get all 3 of those FRP the Suns have.

I don't hate it.
