Mavs already have the head to head which is the first tie breaker. We split the season series with Phoenix so it goes to conference record next and they are only one game ahead of us in that category as it stands.

I don’t think either team will go .500. Certainly Dallas won’t. But I think 8-4 is possible. Win 2 of the next 3 and then we can get the next 5. Then it’s 4 chances to get 1 victory.

Your math is good but "we can get the next 5" is pretty flippant about beating the Kings even without Sabonis, the Knicks even if they don't have Brunson, not to mention the Hawks and the Bulls who are teams that are at about the same level we are.

This is a hard stretch of our schedule, there's no sugar coating that or looking past it. Our next 5 games are against teams that will likely be in the playoffs and only 3 of our last 12 games are against teams that we can guarantee will not be fighting for what could be important wins with playoff or play-in implications.

Yeah there are some teams with injured stars in there, yeah we should be very competitive with the Hawks and Bulls and yeah there are chances that the Lakers and/or Warriors might need a loss to get the matchup they want in the first round. All of that said it's silly to act like our team is at a point where we can count on a 5 game win streak against any group of teams in the league.

The Kings aren’t likely to make the playoffs. They’re 9th. We actually have a decent chance of catching them. It’s not silly to believe in your team. We’ve seen them win 10 of 11. We’ve seen them beat Milwaukee, Indiana, Minnesota, healthy Orlando, Houston, and Memphis. They can wh big games. Believe Harder!
