Someone shoot me if the Spurs get the first pick sitting one spot ahead of us.

So they were without Ayton, Williams, Duop, Deni, Grant, Simons, and Scoot.
Who exactly did you want to sit this game? Sharpe? He was 5-17, he did his part.

The constant whining is a little over the top at this point.
Just so it's clear, I've been saying for games now that Tou and Deni should have been sitting. Obviously doing half of that tonight wasn't good enough. Oh well, now we just have to hope our team has enough intelligence not to pass the Suns and whatever two teams from the East that don't make the playoffs through the play in.

The mission now should be hold onto the 9th spot in the lotto and get the best pick possible but getting the best pick possible in this draft should have been the goal at least since the trade deadline.

Well, Warriors and Lakers will hopefully still be playing to win with the tight 3-6 playoff position race. We should safely land at #9.

There's what 3 games left in the season? The time to care about draft picks was many months ago. I just don't see it really mattering at all now. Blazers will get a pick towards the end of the lottery or the Blazers will get a pick towards the end of the lottery.

Still could be a pretty significant difference between 9 and 12.

Probably not as significant as between 5 and 9, though...
Of course not, but 5 is not a possibility for us anymore, and hasn't been for a while, so it's really not worth mentioning at this point. I'm just talking about where we are vs where we might end up if we win out.

Top 4 is.

What happens now doesn't matter much unless we get really lucky and land top 4 or get just as lucky and land a great player late in the lotto.

It matters because an over 20% chance of moving up if we end up 9th is far far more likely than the under 8% chance to move up at pick 12. The team should still be trying to get the best pick possible but they should have been for a while now and that hasn't seemed to be any kind of priority.

I've given up hoping they'd be logical. Sorry.

You're right. It matters. But odds are very high that we're not going to get a guy better than we already have on the roster, regardless of what we do.

So I'm just in "hope for luck" mode.

I think, like in most decent drafts, there will be young players who are not ready now, but have a huge upside if they put in thew work. That is who they need to identify. If this is a good a draft as some "experts" say, then at 9 or 10, there will be a couple to choose from.

But you are right, they may not be as good as most who are currently on the team now. Because many of our current guys will also improve. We do have quite a bit of talent despite not having a "star".

Scoot, Banton
Sharpe, Simons, Rupert
Deni, Grant, Matisse
Camara, Walker
Ayton, Clingan, Williams

Now, granted, not all of those vets will be back, so openings will be available. I am just not counting on the player being ready for a year or two.
And of course, the pick could be traded.

Yep. That's where we're at. I like Joe and Mike's eye for talent, so now just hoping they're better than the rest of the NBA.
