How is it that you're anti-Knecht because of defense, but you're in favor of Topic?
To quote Walt Whitman: "I am large, I contain multitudes."

To try to defend myself a bit more: I think Topic is a much rarer talent. His passing and finishing is just elite. I loved Sergio and this guy is a taller, younger Sergio. Whereas I couldn't give a shit about people like Wally Szczerbiak, which is best case scenario for Knecht. (Also: Topic is much younger, yet has played against a much higher level of competition.)

If Portland could make this trade, and I wish they would, I really hope they would take Dadiet, not Flipowski for sure.
Jeez, the Francophilia on this board. I feel like I should be a corrective and say we should keep the second rounders and take great glue guys like McCullar, Freeman, Ingram or JAMAL SHEAD.

Ringer's latest has us with Clingan, Topic, Dadiet and Christie
I would just hate that for lottery picks. Really want nothing to do with Clingan at 7, and given a choice between he and Edey at 14, I take Edey. Can’t say I have invested much time on second rounders. I would rather package them with 14 and move up if we don’t have a deal cooking elsewhere. Only so many roster spots, but there always are steals in the second round. Or should I say surprises?

I would be ecstatic to have Topic fall to us at 14. Even if he needs to take most of the season off. A 6 foot 6 point guard that can let our shrimp other guards shoot lights out and cover for their defensive weaknesses? Sign me up!

Topic at 14 would be amazing

That'd be a feature, not a bug to me. We don't want to win next year, so no harm in having him not be there to help us, and the longer he's not around to have weird fits next to Scoot, the better we can evaluate exactly what he is and isn't (I happen to think he's a borderline superstar still, but I get that many here don't)

Topic covers for nobody's defensive weaknesses.

FWIW Just listening to NBA radio. An ex coach was being interviewed. Said Cody Williams was a guy who comes to mind that is way better than what he showed at Colorado, and that Terrance Shannon, talent-wise, should not fall out of the lottery..... but will
(Big, fast and physical wing)

I asked about Shannon last week but nobody had input.

I watched some tape on him. Good scorer. Streaky outside shot. Goes to the hoop as hard as anybody, even a little out of control at times. Not too sure about his def, but he is a great athlete.
I'll say this, if Shady played as aggressively as Shannon, he would be on his way to being an elite scorer. I see guys like Shannon being good for Shady to go against every day in practice. Sharpe would have to match his effort or he would get made to look bad.
