Gary Trent accepted a 1 year 2.6m vet minimum to play in Milwaukee. There's a rumor going around that Lillard helped the Bucks recruit Trent Jr.

OMgosh, troll alert. How dare a Blazer fan post an entirely speculative and borderline positive comment about Dame on a Blazers forum.

I don't get the arch of player value in the NBA. A roleplayer shows they might be good, then they get a huge contract, then they don't bloom into a star, then their value goes down to nothing. It's not like he declined, he's only 25.

It is more that the money dried up. I would be willing to bet he had a much bigger offer earlier this summer that he turned down thinking he could get even more. His gamble failed.

But it is also possible he doesn't want to lose as much anymore and was only going to sign with a contender.

This happens quite a bit though. GMs get desparate to sign someone in the summer...

I think the problem for Trent was that he simply showed he wasn't a very good player. Kind of a one-trick pony. He could hit three's at a good rate but that was about it. He was below average in overall shooting efficiency because he doesn't get to the FT line. He's a poor rebounder for his position and he doesn't get assists. He's mediocre at dribble-drive. After flashing some defensive intensity in his first couple of seasons, he's ended up a negative defender.

overall, he's probably a little better than a vet minimum contract but that depends on a team being willing to pay more. There may have been no takers

Not sure how long of a deal Toronto offered at 15 mil per year, but if it was at least 3 years then he might never make it up. He will be desperate to have a good year, which isn't a bad thing for the Bucks.

Yeah I was hoping for Wes Matthews 2.0 but it seems he let some high scoring outings go to his head and completely lost his focus on defense.

Isiah Thomas along with former Blazers Justice Winslow and Will Barton are working out for the Bucks in Vegas hoping for training camp spots. Dame loves him some Will Barton...he was playing in Japan last year I believe and Winslow was a Raptor for a stretch

I remember completely falling for him in the Bubble because he looked like he was really going to be a great defender. What happened to that?

if that was what Toronto was willing to pay, yeah, Trent cut his own throat

but report is that the Raptors never made a formal offer. I'd be a bit skeptical about what Toronto claims they would have paid

still, it would have been better than a vet minimum. But I think there was a chance Toronto would have never made a formal offer with Grady Dick and Jakobe Walker there playing the same position

I would not have, but some suggest Toronto was open to it.....but pulled it when Trent and his agent wanted 25 per season

I have irrational love for Justise based on the way he impacted the team when he was here and healthy. He (plus good shooting) is essentially what I envision Deni can be for us now. I hope he gets a spot somewhere and is able to make the most of it.

Deni is also much better than Winslow on defense and the boards simply because he is 3-4 inches taller. Deni might arguably be a better passer even at this stage of his career than Justise has ever been.

I guess Pat Beverly signed with a Euro-League team. We may see highlights if he starts a brawl, but I don't think he'll be back in the NBA. Unless a GM wants to build a thug elite team.

I always felt like Justise was a top-tier defender. And Winslow's career orb% is actually higher than Deni's. Wouldn't be surprised if Deni is a better passer; that was supposed to one of his biggest upsides coming into the league.

Still, I think we agree that him being a better-shooting and better-overall version of the Winslow player archetype would be a great result, and a fantastic building block for this franchise.

Brooklyn signed Killian Hayes. Can he break the Pistons curse to become a halfway decent player ??

Yeah, I saw that. Where is that photo from?

It was nice to see them finally address a position of need, thats been there for a number of years. I think his game will completely change really help both the O & D.

Winslow as an undersized big and bench role player was pretty cool. Enjoyed him in his time with the Blazers.
Avdija looks like a legit, multi-skilled forward at 23. If last season is growth — not anomaly — on his shooting … I’m looking forward to this season. Gotta tank, but dang! The roster overhaul from just a few years ago is big.

Westbrook is a Nugget. 2 year minimum vet contract. Denver was low on guards, and needed some depth.
