I'm beginning to agree with @PCmor7 that the Blazers are most likely in a soft tank mode. They lost Scoot first, and then Billups. We may not miss Billups but I think the players do and with the style we play it's important that players maintain their intensity. Some of the signs of a tank: being super cautious with Scoot. Not finding a capable PG after Scoot and Blake went down. Giving Yang somewhat substantial minutes early (until the coach refused?)
Is it possible that the one assistant coach who turned down the interim offer did so because he realized the tank might be in and knew it wouldn't be good for his resume'? Yeh, yeh, yeh, I know I'm just speculating but it doesn't smell right to me......And maybe it's the right decision in a strong draft year? We obviously don't have enough talent yet.

Funny how much fans have changed from saying the Blazers were 100% committed to winning this year, either the playins or maybe even a playoff run, to now theres all this tanking talk.

As one of the few west teams that controls their pick this season and a loaded 2026 draft with a weak 2027 draft next years it always made sense to tank another time.

I don't think the Blazers have fully moved to that direction yet. But I think they will leave the door open to easily pivot to that direction around the trade deadline just as we've done every single one of the prior four years.

I'm sure the new owner is communicating with the front office. What he's saying I have no clue, but he has to be seeing that the Blazers have little chance to compete for anything this season except a worse draft pick

Actions suggest the Blazers never were 100% committed to winning this year. You don't sign a player who is going to be out for the entire season and draft a lottery ticket who is probably three years away from contributing in a meaningful way if they were.

I think the Blazers were taking this approach -- if we don't do well, OK, we add another piece in a strong draft, Dame, and Yang has a year to develop, and, if we do well, then almost certainly our younger players have turned out to be further along than we expected and we were going to be good anyway.

But, yeah, being a playoff team this year didn't pass the smell test for a couple of reasons. It's a soft tank. We're going to try to be competitive. We're going to try to win. But we're going to do it with what we have and we are going to be very risk-averse. We aren't going to play guys through injuries or ailments. We aren't going to rush them back. We aren't going to trade picks to win now. We're just going to play what we have now to the best of our ability knowing it probably won't be quite enough. But I think we'll have a better team by the end of the season, I think we're better than we were last year regardless of what the final record will say, and I think by the beginning of next year we'll really show signs of being a problem.

And, I mean look at the last draft to the upcoming draft. Kon Knueppel, a player I really like, went fourth in 2025. Caleb Wilson might not even be good enough to go fourth in 2026.

Knueppel's a rich man's Jared Dudley. He makes your team better and, if you need a shooter, he can really help your team, but he's not making you a playoff contender without good players around him.

Caleb Wilson might be a better version of Chris Bosh.

Here's hoping that Dillon Jones blossoms after being dumped by OKC in the same way that Josh Giddey has.

Isn’t Jones just a part of the Remix? To my understanding, the Blazers don’t own his rights any more than the Hornets or any other team does. We only have 2 way players that can go between the two teams and Dillon Jones is not one of them. Let me know if I’m wrong, but that’s all I’ve been hearing.
