Game Thread 2025-26 GAME #33 - BLAZERS VS MAVERICKS - DECEMBER 29, 2025 - MONDAY - 7:30 PM - NBC - PEACOCK

he lost the ball before any contact. It was like the Dallas player tripping himself
Not sure that was the case. From the one angle, you see him lose the ball but you can't see the body contact from the other side. From the back, you clearly see the contact, but you can't see when he lost the ball.

Then, even if what you say was the case, it's a loose ball foul for the body check.

There were three challenges tonight, IIRC, and they all were successful. The Mavs only took one that I remember. If they thought there was a chance of overturning it, they would have taken it.

I don't think I have seen him do one positive thing tonight.
He’s awful. Should be permanently in G league this season and hope for massive improvement and a new body next year.

Clingan's 3 pt shooting now at 32.9% and it will likely go higher; his shot looks good. Sharpe up to 32.5% after his awful start, nice to see
These are the things that will make both of them impact players. Those shots need to keep falling.

I was as critical about Caleb Love as anyone, but that's two games this year he's basically won for us. It's also two games in a row in a back-to-back no less that he played well and looked like a legit NBA player, a player that probably could fill a role and be in the rotation on a playoff-level team. Something's clicked for him.

Its also been just two games. Show me half a season to a season then we can talk. Otherwise, its just another dime a dozen every 10-15 games you have a game type player.

Seen it all before. Be consistent or its not worthy of a conversation.

He’s had four of these games in a row now

There’s no convincing this person that there’s anything to be happy about with this team. I’m hoping Love can keep up the good work he’s been putting in these last few games.
He has the right mind for the game. He's figuring out how to play the NBA game physically. I see arrows up.

As was pointed out to me, it's not been two games, it's been four. Plus, some of these haven't been "good games." A couple of them have been sensational.

That's not to say it might not be for real -- Sidy seems to have fallen back a bit after a nice stretch. It's to say that he's trending in the right direction and hasn't been doing the crazy hero-ball stuff that was holding him back and driving us crazy, and he's shooting consistently from 3. He deserves kudos for that. If he falls off a cliff in performance, than we can talk about that, too, if and when it happens. But he's looked really good and deserves recognition for t.

If he can hit his open catch-and-shoot threes consistently that would be a much-needed part of the offense.

Regardless of his age, he is still a rookie. So being consistent is not going to happen. Hell, even vets are inconsistent shooters when coming off the bench. He is improving with more minutes, so that is a good sign.

The question is, will he be back next year? Right now, he gives us much-needed 3 pt shooting. But next year, with Dame back along with Scoot, Jrue, and Shae, who else do we keep? Love, Wesley, Siddy, Matisse ....I am guessing the answer is whoever we can get the cheapest.

Nice game last night for Caleb Love. He's an undrafted rookie and showing improvement.

Note: Game Score was created by John Hollinger to give a rough measure of a player's productivity for a single game. (40 is an outstanding performance, 10 is an average performance).

The thing you gotta take away from Love, Murray and Cissoko making strides is that the coaching is bringing out the best in these guys. They aren't generational talents but they have skills and when used correctly they will be a positive for the team. They are highly motivated individuals fighting for a chance to play on what will be a really good team in the next few years. That they are making the most of their chance speaks to their character, and that tells me whoever is picking talent has a good eye, and whoever is cultivating the talent on the court is doing it right. Whoever stays or goes, we have good people making good decisions. No team on paper should be winning games with this lineup, let alone clawing up slowly to .500… this is the stuff they don’t write down on paper, the stuff San Antonio had that we used to wish we had. This is the resilience that lets you make a deep playoff run with a fully healed lineup (not this season but…)

Another solid win!!!

Okay. I must say…

After watching several, non Blazer Broadcast games, we have a great broadcast crew. Yeah I get annoyed when i don't get the replay i want or when it rolls over the game play for a moment. Or when Haberstat goes too long.

But none of that is near as bad as the Peacock broadcast. Announcer dont know the players history or names.
Shannon Sharpe?
Deni a second year player?
Hardly any replays…
Ten minutes straight of nothing but Cooper Cupp talk…

The grass isn't always greener on the other side.
Kudos to Blazer broadcasting for putting out a better product on a nightly basis than the national pundit syndicate channels that cant figure out how to show the foul situation for each team in an understandable format.
Like there hasn't been a template for a decade plus???

I am concerned that as the nba continues to sell out more games to non standard bball channels(tnt) , the quality of the product will decline.

You never know… if we could be at .500 by all star and five games over to finish the season that might be good enough to get in. And when on an upward curve with some of our best players coming back, that could be enough for a deep playoff run this year.

Couldn't one also read that chart as him being really inconsistent?

I also like our broadcast team. All announcers can be irritating at times, especially when your team is losing, but overall, I like Kevin, Lamar, and Brooke.

Hurd irritates the shit out of me when he motormouths incessantly like an auctioneer who drank two pots of coffee. At times I have to just turn the volume off. It isn't the fucking Lamar Hurd show. It's a Trail Blazers basketball game. Dude doesn't need to give a lengthy dissertation on every thought that pops into his head. Take a fucking breath once in a while. The times when he chills out a bit and let's the game come to him, as the saying goes, he's pretty decent.
