Great game to watch, happy Dallas won, feel for the Jets and especially Scheifele. My guess is former Rangers assistant Scott Arniel will be fired as the Jets coach, hard to see them keeping him after another playoff run falls woefully short. They are in a tough spot having to play Colorado and Dallas early every season, but that's the way it goes.

As for Dallas, can they get over the hump and make the SCF finally. This is their 3rd straight WCF trip, they are 0-2 the past two seasons, now they get a rematch from last season against Edmonton. I am rooting for Dallas bigtime, I hope they get it done. It's going to be tough as Edmonton is very good. I ever so slightly lean towards Dallas, but I think it's a total tossup series, I wouldn't be even 1% surprised if either team won. Should be some great hockey.

I am looking forward to the WCF WAY more than the ECF, regardless of if it's Florida or Toronto against Carolina.

Oh, Laffs.

less than a minute after a big goal to make it 3-1 they go on and give up the 4th.

Marchand has been a good playoff add for them.

The Leafs are a team that will have big changes before next season, they have gotten to the point where big changes to the core are needed IMO. Tavares and Marner are both UFA's, plus I'm sure they'll make other moves as well.

If it were me, I'd look into dealing Matthews, the guy never gets it done in the playoffs. He had one soft goal against the Panthers, that's all. 3 goals in 13 playoff games this year, one goal in 5 playoff games last year. I'd at least explore the haul I could get for him, then maybe you can re-sign Marner. You can get something for Matthews, instead of simply letting Marner walk for nothing.

As for Florida, I favor them against Carolina, I think goaltending will be a big difference in that series, a huge edge for Florida.

This would never happen because it requires creativity, which is not Drury's strong suite, but I'd be on the phone with Toronto tomorrow trying to get Matthews. I would offer K. Miller, Garand, and the 12th overall pick as a start (I'm sure the Rangers would need to include a little extra sweetener like a mid-prospect and/or pick).

From Toronto's POV, they get a young cheaper top 4 dman, a future # 1 goalie, a solid 1st round pick, and maybe another mid piece or two. It gives them a core change, they need top dmen badly, and they desperately need a top goalie, they get all of that in this trade. This also allows them to re-sign Marner, which is a big plus and has to be counted as part of their return package.

From the Rangers POV, they would need to move Kreider in a separate deal to clear cap space, it would give the Rangers a stud # 1 C, and a top player in the league.

Whether it's that exact package, or something directionally similar, I think there could be a base connection here if Toronto is willing to listen on Matthews.

I think it's a win win trade, that should at least be explored. But again, Drury has zero creativity, so I doubt it happens. These are the kinds of conversations he should be having, sadly he won't, he's incapable of pulling it off. We'll get ho hum BS from Drury, nothing big and bold.

Yeah, I'm sure they'd have to offer more, maybe include Othmann, but I think there could be a match with the pieces I mentioned as a start, if Toronto was so inclined to potentially move him.

It would take Lafreniere, Fox and Cuylle. No thanks. Go after Bennett. That would hurt Florida immensely. Help us a ton.

Why would you want that soft ass pussy Mathews on this team. Don’t the rangers have enough of those soft entitled players already on this roster?

Matthews has struggled in the playoffs, but he's a top-level stud, he plays C, and he has size. If Toronto wanted K. Miller, Lafreniere, Garand, and 12th overall I would do it. That's a haul for Toronto, I think. They get a top 4 dman, a former # 1 pick overall, a future # 1 goalie (which they need badly), and the 12th pick.

Add up Miller and Lafreniere you get $12.5M, I'm assuming Miller gets $5M +/-. Matthews makes $13.25M for three more seasons, so Toronto would clear some cap space, and if they let Tavares go, they can afford to keep Marner. Toronto either let's Marner walk for nothing, or they have to deal Matthews or Nylander, get assets back, and re-sign Marner. Letting Marner walk for nothing is not a smart move for Toronto. If I was Toronto I would absolutely 100% trade Matthews or Nylander for assets, then re-sign Marner.

As I said whether it's trading for Matthews, or something else bold, this is what Drury should be focused on. Signing Bennett, while a good player, is not changing the core and tone here. Drury needs to be bold, and a trade for Matthews is just that. It doesn't need to be Matthews, but Drury should be thinking in creative bold ways. That's my main point.

Remember when the Rangers were in the conference finals last year? That was awesome.

Carolina taking another beating from the Panthers.

The Panthers just know how to win, and get it done in big spots, could be 3 straight SCF's. I think they are simply a better team than Carolina, who had an easy road through the Met to get into the ECF. Meanwhile, the Panthers had to beat TB and Toronto, a much tougher road.

The WCF, flip a coin, either team can win it, I say let's go Dallas.

Panthers scored on the same pass from behind the net over and over. Adding Marchand has been a huge difference maker, Bill Zito is the best GM in hockey. Whatever happens off season better not include resigning Lindgren.

Game was over when Blake scored PP goal for Carolina and after the puck was in the net Ekblad winds up and crushes him with an elbow - no call of course for a repeat offender. We'll see what the NHL does but that was worse than anything Rempe was suspended for.

Still think the WCF will be a long coin flip series, but you do feel that at some point the Oilers goaltending questions will catchup with them. They didn't last postseason, and haven't this postseason so far, but it is always lurking with them. Plus, maybe the Stars are due to finally make the SCF, this being their 3rd straight WCF, 0-2 in the previous two trips.

Through 2 games the ECF has gone as expected. The Canes are a cut below the Panthers, and it's very clear. It's unfortunate if you want to see a long close series. If they lose game 3, the Canes could be swept by the Panthers again. Florida looks really strong to win their 2nd straight Cup.

I do think the West winner will have a shot and make it a close series though, the Oilers and Stars are both good teams with a lot of talent.

Aho with another cheap knee. These things happen because Parros is an incompetent, dumb fuck that doesn’t punish players the first time.

Looks like the hockey WCF will be the only series out of the 4 that will be a close long series. The WCF has 6 or 7 written all over it, I just hope Hintz is okay for Dallas.

The gritless Hurricanes are more like a gentle breeze, very unimpressive so far. Even when the game is out of hand the Panthers continue to bully them.

The Canes had no business making the eastern conference finals. Their team does not have anywhere near the talent to go that far. Their defenseman core blows.

They made the ECF because the Met division was terrible this season, and they took advantage of the weak half of the bracket, that's the only reason I thought the Canes would make the ECF to start with. I believe the Lightning, Leafs, and obviously the Panthers are all better than the Canes. This Canes team is nowhere near as good as they have been the past few seasons, they have lost a lot of good players over that period of time, and they've always been questionable in goal.

While I still believe the WCF is a coin toss series that either team can win, it seems like we are destined for a Panthers/Oilers rematch (both West teams would have home ice over the Panthers).

You’re counting out the stars way too early in your typical dumb fuck way.
