The stock market was always the Trump’s greatest metric during his time in office
Which doesn’t mean much, besides a bunch of people who hate him jumping on the same page as him.

I wonder how the homeless veterans’ and single mothers’ stocks are doing? Hopefully they are seeing enough returns to offset inflation so they can afford groceries and rent. Lol. Is there any way to invest in Fentanyl? Seems like “healthy” gains cound be made there in the ol portfolio.
They all have a lot more going for them under Biden than under Trump or any other Republican, that's for sure.

There are literally more homeless and more OD deaths than ever, right now at this moment, than there were during orange person’s reign. More suicides too, a problem that affects veterans particularly hard.
So no, all those people aren’t better off. They are verifiably worse off in a very tangible, provable way.

He said told people their 401k would go to hell if Biden got in office
We were told Trump would start nuclear WW3 if elected and that didn’t happen either. Turns out politicians will say anything.

Compared to the rest of the civilized world the U.S. economy has sustained decently through the epidemic. If you think inflation is bad here you should see all of Europe.

Actually US economy did very poorly during pandemic, including stock market, but much better during recovery.

And they still all have far more access to far more help than they did under Trump.

Who said that? Most of the unbelievable stuff I heard about Trump during the run up to 2016 (which I didn't believe, and thought was just political gamesmanship) wound up being true or worse... I don't remember any serious politicians claiming that he'd start WW3.

This is true, but compared to the rest of the world we still faired better.

We have so many built-in advantages that we almost literally can't fail.

No he actually told his minions that their 401k would go to hell.

I don’t remember Biden ever saying WW3 would breakout if Trump were elected.

Except they don’t. A problem getting exponentially worse isn’t a sign of that very problem being somehow better. Not sure how you are saying this with any level of seriousness right now. This is you saying a thing just to say a thing. Means nothing and is easily disproven.

Well alot of people’s have, to be fair.
And if you didn’t pay much attention to the news the last 8 or so years that is fine (I mean that earnestly, you skipped alot of unnecessary nonsense). But that was a common threat among the left, along with many other silly things. Now here we are involved in multiple wars and funding a genocide.

Oh you want to talk turkey. Okay, let's get serious then.

What specific policy (or policies) has Biden championed and enacted that made these things worse (for the people you're claiming have it worse) than under Trump?

You can just post links to the quotes. That's the great thing about web forums.

No, that's not fair at all. You can't say "randos on the internet said this, so that's comparable to a presidential candidate saying it"

Can't stand trump but Id say Joe hasn't taken the lead with immigration and it's gotten worse over the last few years. Not totally his fault but he's the President.

Anyone with a rudimentary knowledge of history knows that the great dustbowl depression displaced more Americans than any time in history other than the native american trail of tears..or see.the aftermath of any WW or the Civil War of Viet Nam conflict....if you think this current era is bad, you've got a really skewed idea about the state of the world post pandemic. There was homelessness in this country since it became a country. I think maybe you enjoy a dystopian view of humanity by the way you throw these quasi or largely exaggerated digs into conversations...this thread is about 401ks. The homeless traditionally don't camp downtown ...that has changed...I've always seen them when I go fishing in the woods.

Even if we assume that's true what does that have to do with the homeless, OD, or suicide rates that @jonnyboy brought up?

Republicans blocked passage of a border bill that gave them almost everything they wanted because Moscow Mitch did not want to give Biden a win. Definitely not saying the bill would have solved everything but when Republicans refuse to pass anything so Trump can run on border, Biden's options are limited.

I thought you were referring to anything while Joe is in office. My apologies...

I work in staffing/recruitment (10 years) and this is by far the worst employment situation for white collar workers I've experienced. Colleagues with double my years in the industry echo the sentiment.

I certainly hear that. My wife has been looking for a step up for a while and it's tough.

According to this expert. It does not matter who the president is. The corporate overlords control the stock market, not the president.

Yep. The president doesn't matter. Dem or Republican. They are all beholden to the corporate overlords.

My take, the corporate overlords are controlled by the very large private equity funds. They own so much of a companies stock, they have a seat on the board of directors. And decide who runs the day to day operations of the company, and dictate policy.

Yep. I would agree with pretty much everything in your post. The corporate overlords and private equity funds are the same.

With the exception that I don't think I ever said they control the stock market, nor do I believe that. They have, however positioned themselves to profit handsomely regardless of what the stock market does.

Like Neo. They don't need to dodge those bullets.

Thanks.

Many factors control the stock market. It is believed by many, the #1 factor is interest rates.

The higher the interest rates, the greater the expense to operate a company, lowering profits.

Interest rates are the highest they have been in decades. So why are profits higher?

Inflation. The highest inflation rate in 40 years as allowed companies to raise prices higher than the inflation rate. Generating higher profits.

I have no idea how or when this cycle ends. But, it maybe a hard landing.

PS, having trouble typing, forgive any errors.

Yep, I don't have disagreements with any of that either.

If your 401k is shitting the bed you’re doing something terribly wrong. 2024 has been the 6th best year in the history of the stock market as far as record high days, thus far.

Unless you double downed on ‘My Pillow’ stock or something?

I might make close to $5k today if this holds
