Portland trades LA to Utah in exchange for Alec Burks, Derrick Favors and Dante Exum.

This certainly seems better than bringing back Steve Blake and watching him destroy the team or LA deciding he wants to play in Dallas because he can.

You would think if Utah had any reason to believe they could resign LA they would certainly consider that deal.

Thoughts?

Why would Utah do that? There's no way Aldridge re-signs there. That team, even with Aldridge, wouldn't make the playoffs in the west.

My thought is what time zone are you in where at 5:30 this morning you are so awake that you are able to come up with all these off the wall theories? I am still on my first cup of coffee and can barely keep my eyes open...which may be a plus while I am reading all this.

If this trade actually happened, I think Aldridge would contract a mysterious illness that would preclude him from playing next season. He would then decide he needs to leave and sign with the Mavs

You could argue that he's still asleep because most of these ideas are stupid as hell

Dude... you realize that no one takes any of your trades seriously, right? Take a hint.

I love this! I thought it would be impossible for you to surpass your trade Lillard for Conley idea but my god I think you've done it!

That's talent my friend, true talent.

I love the "Thoughts?" line. Like, "Voila! I just plucked this moronic trade idea out of my ass. How many of you would like to bow to my genius?"

I'd like you all to remember to attack the trade, not the person who posted the trade.

Hey, I said the trade idea was moronic, not the poster. I'm sure cmeese47 is a wonderful person who simply is having a run of bad ideas.

But, point taken. I guess I am feeling a little pissy this morning.

Come and defend your piece of crap trade idea. No fair pitching such dribble and then taking off. I want to laugh a little more.

I predict this thread will get a million responses and if I start a "keep the core intact" thread it will die in single digits. OK, I did my part

Two years ago I said we should trade Aldridge & someone else for Favors, Gordon Hayward and their pick and was told LOL no.

So in hindsight, it would've been Favors, Hayward, and Exum for Aldridge. This was when they still had Al Jefferson to pair with Aldridge.

Really hmmm how many people just wanted to deal LA straight up for the #1 pick so that they could just go ahead and draft Exum? In this deal, I added a skilled young PF and Burks would immediately become our 6th man.

Right I forgot Wiggins, Waiters and Zellar or whatever the rubbish from the other thread is a much better deal.

No bro, it was Aldridge and Matthews for Monroe, wiggins, waiters and zellar. That is much better than this trade 10 fold.

Oh BTW Favors > Nothing Burks > Nothing Exum > Nothing

Utah won't make the deal because LA will leave for Dallas at the end of the year. But if they did it is certainly better than what we are going to get when he goes to Dallas anyways.

If anything Waiters and Burks are essentially even although I like Burks a lot more. Wiggins and Exum and both hyper athletic rookies but I will give a slight advantage to Wiggins. Favors is miles ahead of Monroe on defense while Monroe is a better offensive player. I would call them about even. Even if you wanted to give Monroe an advantage you still have to give up Matthews to get him and there is no way in fuck is Zellar better than Matthews.

In fairness, had your proposed deal happened, the Utah pick wouldn't have been high enough to nab Exum, so it's not quite a fair comparison.

The point is that Utah would never do that deal because LMA would never sign with them. So they would be trading all that for a 1 year rental. The Cavs on the other hand could keep LMA because they would be title contenders if not favorites, with a core of Lebron, Aldridge and Irving.

I am right there with you. I wanted to trade LMA for the #1, but then I would have traded down a bit & pick up some more assets & pick Exum @ 3 or 4. Trade is fine by me - although I don't like Favors too much.

Talk to me when Lebron signs on the dotted line. Until then Cleveland has as much chance as Utah to resign LA next season and that would be Zero.

There was also rumors that Utah was offering Burks, Favors/ Kanter and #5 for #1 and Jack. Sounds like a potential 3 way deal could be worked out.

That's the best point you've had all thread.

But if the trade is moronic, then the person who posted it must be moronic. By not agreeing with trade you are personally insulting op and should be banned.

Maybe make it a 4-way deal including a signed/traded Monroe coming to Portland, with Favors and CJ going to Detroit.

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=kacp3a2

Would give us:

Lillard/Burks/Barton
Matthews/Exum/Crabbe
Batum/Wright/Claver
Monroe/Robinson/Freeland
Lopez/Kaman/Leonard

I'm sure there's a reason that deal wouldn't work (not the least of which is that 4-team deals almost never happen), but it actually looks pretty reasonable to me.

Why is everyone so enamored with Monroe?

He's more proven offensively than Favors, and we need a solid offensive player in the frontcourt. IMO, Monroe pairs better with Lopez than Favors does.

Edit: They're actually relatively comparable when looking at the per/36 and advanced stats, with Favors having more blocks and fouls, and Monroe having more assists. Neither are world-beaters defensively, but Monroe is more of a low-post offensive threat, whereas Favors is more of a garbage-man undersized center type. We already have Robinson for that role.
