"He's far from a bust. I would hope that Greg doesn't pay a whole lot of attention to it, but I think he does because he's a sensitive kid and a really good person," Bayno said. "The way to generate media attention is to talk about (Oden) being a bust. It creates excitement and controversy. But the book isn't closed on him."

Oden is out of the Blazers lineup and continues to test his knee in practice. Team officials said Oden is looking at a late November return.

Still, Oden said that when he's finally ready to return to the court, he'll live up to the lofty expectations that followed him into the NBA.

"When I was out there playing, I think I was doing a pretty decent job," Oden said. "I just have to get over these unfortunate injuries. All those media people saying that I'm a bust, they can think what they want to, but I know what I can do."

Great news. I really hope the kid can keep his body together for his sake.

I just want one season of Greg playing 60 games a full strength.

I'll take more but settle for that.

Greg playing 60 games at full strength (at the level he played last year) makes this team an instant contender.

Hope it happens soon.

I know I'm probably one of the least optimistic people around here when it comes to Greg's future, but I really do hope he can put all of the injury shit behind him. Good for him if he can get back sooner rather than later.

I fear any return from Oden will quickly end in another injury and season of "rehab".

Would this be considered a timeline?

Anyhoo, HCP's video yesterday was promising. Greg looks lean again, and it was nice seeing him hit that 12' face up jumper. I'm not sure he made one of those all of last season. ;)

I still feel like Greg's time will come. He may never be the once in a generation center (at least offensively) that some people hoped for but I really do believe that it will all come together for Oden and he will be a very very good center in this league and A LOT of people will be backtracking and acting like they knew it all. Maybe Im just a homer or maybe just hopeful but there is just something about him that wont let me give up on him.

So to that end I say, "Go get 'em Oden!!!"

Hoping for the best. Not banking on anything.

Take your time Oden! Get healthy and to where your feeling comfortable on the court.

In April nobody will care if you came back a month early or late in December.

Fans and the media have a 30 day attention span.

GO coming back would make for a terrific Thanksgiving.

My expectations of GO haven't changed a bit. I think once he gets a stretch of good health, he's going to be a top two/three center in this league.

He has hit a couple of them.

Greg actually has good form for a big man. He actually had a better FT% than Aldridge last year. Small sample size, but still.
