A Little Love for Caleb Love (1 Viewer)

Gonna be interesting to see what we do in the offseason. Will we be able to retain him? What will the cost be?

If we do retain him, I just don't see how we don't consider moving Scoot, but we have to hope he comes back and plays at a decent level so someone bites.

I don't see us moving off Lillard or Jrue. I think they both really want to play with each other and they are a good fit. If Lillard is healthy and looks like he still is good, I think you dangle Scoot with some other pieces for an upgrade elsewhere.

One of the most important pieces of the 1976/1977 Championship Blazers was Herm Gilliam. He had a lot of the same holes in his game that Love has. But for every head shaker of a game Squirmin' Herman had off the bench, he had at least a half dozen games where he put the team on his back and pulled them out of the hole with his "chucking" and his frenetic energy. The guy was a tornado. And while some fans grumbled about him after a less than stellar game, the majority of the fan base (and ALL of his teammates) completely appreciated what he brought to the team (as a very last minute addition to the roster just prior to the start of the season). I personally see Love in that same role and I hope like hell we can keep him. Frankly, the guys who have been complaining from the start about Love would complain if they were hung with a new rope.......

I have to think we sign Love and trade home when Damian and Scoot are both healthy

While I am pleasantly surprised with Love's play, he is still three years older than Scoot. I think it would be a big mistake to give up on Henderson when the numbers from both players are similar. I think there are still minutes there for both since Dame and Drue should not be counted on for heavy minutes or to stay healthy.

It would be great to trade Williams, Thybulle, and Murray for one player.

That would be tough, though. It would need to be a player who makes around 28 million dollars. And preferably an ending contract. I doubt we could get anyone good enough for that return. I think in that scenario, I would rather buy out the contracts of Williams and Tisse and keep Murray for 5 million or try to return Williams on a cheap contract.

I don't know how likely this would be, but it seems reasonable. Tobias is old but not too busted, on the last year of his contract. We're getting fleeced on a PER basis, but it's a consolidation trade, so that's bound to happen. Plus it'd be funny to bring back the first round pick we traded to get Gerald Wallace.

If we are getting an upgrade we likely have to give up a young player that another team could see potential and sell their fanbase on. I'm not opposed to moving Sharpe in a deal like that, but, it would be a lot easier if we had drafted Coward instead of Yang.

I've said it before that Bam Adebayo I think is a prime target and Dame has already wanted to play with him. No idea if Miami is at a point they would consider, but a package of Scoot, Grant, our lotto pick if we miss the playoffs and someone/thing else? I would do that in a second. Dame, Love and Jrue is enough depth at the pg position. If we plan to play Jrue alongside Dame at points, we can sign another pg. I feel like its one of the deepest positions in the league.

I don't think it is reasonable. He starts for the team with the best record in the east, (2nd best overall) why would they move him for those 3? They have a lot of depth already

Nice comparison, and I remember Herm lit up the lakers, during the last game of the 4 game SWEEP that put us in the Championship....

He's starting but he's not very good. They move him because I want them to obviously.
