OT A March For Their Lies

Welcome to our community

Be a part of something great, join today!

It's a forum, so some folks here think your opinion is baseless and possibly repugnant. I would suspect you aren't just posting to hear a choir of "me too".

My thoughts.
1) the youth have taken the lead on a topic and that's great. We have been trying for decades to get the youth to become more involved in politics and shaping society. Well, these young people will be of voting age soon and they are already putting out effort leading me to believe we are witnessing young folks finally grabbing the bull by the horns. At least some of them. More than in the previous generation. You @Cippy91 have stated you have never voted by the age of 26. Well, my guess is many of these kids will not be as jaded as you and will actually try and apply pressure to the system through marches, social media and through voting.

2) This has been almost 5 weeks and still picking up steam. Will it be this strong in a week, or a month or a year, perhaps not, but some of those kids will continue and will keep the topic alive.

3) HCP and others will disagree with you. That doesn't mean stop sharing your opinions. But you will be called out. @MarAzul and @MARIS61 both call me out often. I don't take it personally, I don't act like I'm a victim because they immediately and sometimes dramatically tear my posts down (at least in their minds). The OT section is for debate, it's for disagreement and sometimes even for laughter or mockery. That's the shit. People will not stop picking apart your posts. Just don't take it personally.

4) I personally find a lot of pride in our young generation. The poise, the emotion, it's very appreciated. It's beautiful.
I don't mind being called out for something that deserves being called out. I just feel like it's a damn echo chamber in the OT section. I am not playing victim and don't care who disagrees with me but when my post is called disgusting, it's a bit weird. It wasn't that crazy of an opinion

one more thing @Cippy91. these kids don't need to have the answer. Having the ability to shine a light on the problem is all i ask. The are letting politicians know that if they aren't seeing change, they will use their voices to jettison the NRA-lockstep politicians.

These kids may not all be voters today, but what about tomorrow? they are becoming activists, and activists on all sides, tend to vote. Seems like they at least have a chance to shop policy whereas you stand no chance so long as you keep your voice muted by not voting, marching, writing letters, emails....
Voting is a whole different animal. Trump, Hillary, crooked. I wasn't gonna vote. Obama, Mccain same thing. Obama, Romney? yeah no thank you. There hasn't been a candidate since I have been able to vote that has made me feel like if I vote, it could make a difference. It's a shitty system

@Cippy91 Dude wtf is your issue.

You responded with this to my non-divisive post.
I purposely wrote it that way to NOT START an argument.

I then reply while being nice I may add with this.
I did not give dates at this time as I didn't believe it was necessary.
You're an intelligent guy.

But you then double down on it, saying these kids are just seeking attention.
They won't care in a week, as they'll be onto the next fad/sjw.

I shouldn't have to bring up dates. Your post was a wtf moment.
Therefore I become condescending because you're also being condescending or trolling idk which.

Then you start playing the victim.
I make a haiku.
You dismiss 17/18 year olds again.
I guess 34+ year olds are far more logical than you. 8+ more years of life experience.

Dude wtf.
You don't have to be a 26 year old to know you don't want to get shot while in school.
It's not illogical for kids to ask adults who are supposed to provide for your safety. To do their job.
Not trolling. 17-18 year olds have almost no life experience and their brains haven't fully developed. They are also very very impressionable where as people in their mid 20's have more life experience and their brains are more developed. To ignore that would be ignorant. There are a lot of dumb people in their mid 20's, i am not saying everybody is a genius, and not all 17-18 year olds are dumb.

You truly are showing your ignorance. These kids have their shit together better than you do and at least believe in something enough to march for it. All you do is sit in a basketball forum attacking and putting them down with nothing but generalizations. How sad.
Okay that's fantastic

Sometimes what you hate in others is what you secretly hate about yourself. So if you hate on the kids for having short attention spans, not being consistent with their opinions, lacking knowledge on a subject or having no staying power on said subject...and you yourself have never voted...well, it's called projection.

Now if you don't mind me, I'm going to listen to some Allman brothers.

@ me next time. I am not projecting anything, it's not my fault you are taking the most mellow of opinions and blowing it up. What else should I expect from liberals though? jesus

It is completely over dramatic and entirely judgemental. Cippy may have made a comment about these kids that was overly dismissive of their intent. He may not have given them enough credit.

Then HCP comes in with his bias showing as usual. He reserves his judgement for those he disagrees with or just doesn't like. He mentioned recently some black friends posting militant stuff (something like that) on Facebook but he basically gives them a pass because he understands their background or just doesn't want to call them out on it. @HCP could clarify this if he cares.

@Cippy91 has not learned that making any off the cuff remark that goes against the group in OT is just asking for emotional outbursts of righteous indignation.
I learned I just fucked up by going against this cult. I shouldn't of commented. It's very clear this OT section rolls with one opinion. It's super liberal. That means if you have a different opinion you hate the kids and are with the NRA. I literally said I think this is a trend and that in a week nobody will care. If that is these dudes biggest problem then I feel sorry for them. Then I get told I am ignorant and I am projecting. Oh and that I don't vote, that says a lot about me. Now all of a sudden these kids are so much smarter than me for showing up to a protest. Dope. The hive mind continues in the OT section. If I truly said something terrible then yeah, get crazy but I didn't so these dudes need to back up

lol, I'm neither liberal or conservative.

I don't believe for one second that kid came up with that sign. Interview him and prove it.
He didn't. His parents did but the people attacking me truly believe it's his own thinking on that sign and want him to be president. This is the shit I am talking about. Parents making their kids signs and having them come to the protest. Happened at the feminist protest too, etc.

Okay that's fantastic

Hey, at least you got a like from bodyman. Guaranteed to give you a like if you respond against any of my posts, lol.

Think for a minute. These kids aren't millenials bro. They're From the parents who have seen the millenials. These kids are smart. They grew up being taught how to confront bullies. They haven't been told they're special...

These are the older kids from my son's generation. They're just 5-6 years older than him.

These kids are different and you're selling them short. They're smarter and wiser than you think.
Like I have said, I am not dismissing every single kid. I just said for the most part it's a trend. Doesn't mean I don't want their message to work or influence laws. I just think a majority of them don't care as much as they say.

26 years old is very very different from 14-18 year olds

That's right, average 26 year olds are different than them.

No offense, but you're from the generation that everyone's complaining about, the Millenials.

I think you're not the average 26 year old. You're smarter than most in your group. You're much more engaged and involved than the majority of Millenials. You @Cippy91 do not fit the stereotype of your generation. You don't seem lazy, entitled, apathetic, and don't really exhibit any of the "attributes" given to your generation.

I also think that may be what's confusing you about these kids. You're giving them Millennial type attributes when these kids... They're more like YOU Cippy!!

These kids are engaged and involved.

I don't think you're right about the week and it will be gone. I think there's big money behind it. I don't care about guns either way, I care more about which 1 percenters are pulling the strings.

That's because Bodyman is probably the most intelligent one on this thread to be honest. No over reaction from him because guess what? there are more important things in life to get upset about then a mellow opinion you disagree with and he understands that. Maybe some of you need to go through more shit in life, grow up a bit then come back to me and tell me how my opinion really has you tilted.

It is awesome seeing kids that give a fuck. I'll say it again that I don't have a gun and never did. I'm genuinely concerned about kids getting used no matter the reason.

Maybe nobody is pushing this, I don't know.

I have acknowledged in here before, I could totally be wrong. That's the other thing, I was like hey I could be wrong on this, people aren't quoting that. I agree with you though. As soon as celebrities get involved wearing the shirts and spamming hashtags, I get a bad sign about it. People here give the president too much power. I don't vote because I know who really pulls the strings. It's the mega billionaires, bankers, etc.

Hope so. I'm hoping that their access to information on their phones keeps them aware.

I hope so, that's all I am saying. I hope they care as much as you say they do. Appreciate the words. I might of came across as trying to dismiss all the kids but I am not. I just hope their head is in the right place, that's all.

The internet helps immensely. I'd wondered why it seemed like all of a sudden every store I go to asked me to donate money to something. Googled it and found out why.

I want to tell the cashiers to eat a dick but they don't know and they're just doing their jobs. I just say NO

Of course there's going to be boys that want to impress the girls. Hot girl wants to protest anything and I'd have been there when I was in school.

This video just came out. . This is what I am speaking about. Look how little these people know about the most basic of things they should know. That's my point. It's all over the place

We are fortunate to live in a nation where you can march and protest for change. But you have to make your voice heard if you want that change to happen.

They made some. Anyone could make a hemi head. It is just the shape of the combustion chamber. Chrysler was just known for them. I suggest you ignore Cupwizzer when it comes to cars.

I know what a hemi is, I just didn't realize that anyone other than Chrysler made one.

I can't watch the whole thing. Just can't.

I missed out on the whole anti Vietnam war thing. I guess I was to busy with my job and school. I had to put myself through school so I was usually working or in school when all the protests went down.

Am I sorry I missed out on the protests? Not really, I was busy with other stuff, but had I not been busy with other stuff, I'd have been there.

Are the kids on to something today? I certainly think so. If I could get around any better, I'd have been at Pioneer Square yesterday.
