Earth to A-Rod, never mind 3rd base, you'll have enough trouble just making the team as an everyday player. At this point just STFU & take whatever you can get.
 
I wonder if or how much live pitching he's faced during his suspension.
Obviously he's had the resources to arrange BP sessions. (as with just about any other MLB player). College pitchers, whatever.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least if he just can't cut it anymore but imo, I kinda feel like if his body holds up (very questionable) he'll put up decent numbers- maybe close to what he provided in 2013 ? - .771 OPS
Maybe 15HRs in part time duty?

This upcoming ST is one of the more exciting anticipated ones in quite a while with Jeter no longer there and the prospects of what Gregarious can provide along with a couple of new farmhands competing......and of course the Arod situation.
Will he retire sooner than later if he's lost his skills?
A possible emotional news conference after/if he's released during ST?

...considering his OPS has been declining since 2007, and considering he's 2 years older and has been away for nearly 2 years, I don't see him even coming near his 2013 numbers.

...the guy is toast.

With the type of Hip Surgeries he's had, and the mix of not facing live MLB pitching in Game situations.....

Headley 2014 (as a Yankee)
191 AB, 6 HRs, 17 RBI, .768 OPS, 3/5 SB

SLG% 25 pts higher
More HRs and RBI in 35 less ABs

....and, he actually stole more bases with his broken down steroid riddled body!

I like Headley, good guy nice player and there's alot of reasons to dislike Arod, but lets not forget the type of player/athlete Arod was, and his body has had a full year of "rest" which could benefit him.....that is why I still have thoughts of this guy NOT embarrassing himself on the field.

I am anxious to see what Arod has left in the tank.
Its easy enough to write him off and say he's finished.
Of course I realize he may have very little and is cooked. lol

We WILL find out.

A-Rod is the better player, but Headley brings far fewer headaches, sagas, & drama...I'd take Headley here...
 
...ARod can no longer even tote Headley's jock strap.

Indeed we will find out, but I too doubt we will see A-Roid as not even a ghost or shadow of his previous self.

I honestly expect him to be a BIG BUST...all mouth and NO results...
