Have only owned electric cars since early 2023, three Tesla's and a Rivian. Prefer their far superior performance over gas. My 7 seat 7000lb electric suv has 800hp and can go 0-60 in under 4 seconds. Hardly costs anything to charge at home.
But nice bonus that now I don't have to pay any direct oil price increases. Yes I'll have to pay general inflation - but whatever that's not a huge part of our expenses.
For years I've been hoping auto companies make more series hybrids like the upcoming Dodge REV or VW Scout. They are fully electric EV but with a pure gas engine "generator" under the hood. Zero mechanical link from engine to wheels. All the convience of filling a gas vehicle in under a minute if preferred but can drive over a hundred miles 100% electric and fast charge. Hoping these prices might lead to a little innovation with US autos.
The US EV industry is pretty pathetic. China has dozens of vehicles only for sale there that are far superior. BYD, etc.
