With Nas back and Payton finally playing... we have too many players! Presumably Winslow will be coming back soon. Who's going to feel the pinch? Sharpe? Walker? Walker should be okay until Winslow comes back, because we're actually short on tall players if you get what I mean. Suggest your consolidation trades now (but please, not John Collins).

Hmmm a minutes crunch and no depth with size... I think there's about to be a trade. Only about four weeks until the deadline and despite these last two games this roster still doesn't make sense.

Every team has 15 players. If we “consolidate,” we’ll still need to add players. We don’t have too many. Best players play. It’s easy.

But who for who?
There are a lot of guys out there who would add size to this team. Who we trade is hard to say. That's why Joe gets the big bucks and I have to pay to see the team in one way or another.

Overall they should cut minutes to Dame, Simons, Hart and Grant.

Right but there is serious lack of depth in the post and a numbers crunch on the perimeter. We could "consolidate" or we could trade one of our really good perimeter players for some more size that has mobility.

We have not been healthy all year, why would we want to consolidate?
Glad Chauncey gave Walker a chance but once Winslow comes back... Walker can sit.

We don't need to consolidate but we do need some additional size that can move and we don't need as many really solid perimeter players as we have when we have no depth with size. Dame, Ant, GP2, Hart, Nas, Shae and Justise are all 6'6" and under... that's under the average size of a player in the league. That's seven of the nine guys that should be in our rotation. This roster doesn't make sense and does need a trade or trades to be made in order to make sense. Two good games don't change that... all of our good wins don't change our bad losses. We have enough good players. We do not have enough size and our best players don't all complement each other or really fit the philosophies Chauncey wants to push.

We need to make moves, it's incredibly obvious. It isn't obvious what moves we need to make. Joe has some work to do over the next four weeks and two days and I think he's shown he's not afraid to make a move.

Hart gives you a good trade chip, especially with GPII back. Don’t fall in love and get too attached.

No argument we need another quality big, but it actually hasn't been 2 games, it has been zero games where they have all played together. On paper, I agree with you, but I would like to see them play about 5 games together.

Agreed. Get Dame and Simons down to 32 (30 in blowouts, 34 in close games). Get Grant down to 30, Hart to 28. Those guys take a beating.

Justise, Nas, and Gary could each still get 20 if you cut our Walker and cut Sharpe down to 12. The way they play (physical, fouls, crashing boards, shouldn’t get over 20 anyway)

I like the rotation we had for the last game.

Unfortunate that we might have Winslow play again...

Ricky Rubio is way too good to play 3rd string.
He's playing behind Garland and Mitchell in Cleveland, he'd be playing behind Dame and Ant here. Payton is not a PG, so they wouldn't be in competition.

RoLo would be great.
He's certainly wasted in Cleveland. And his twin is having one of his best seasons, so I doubt he's washed up.

Yeah.... two games with some healthy people and the forum is like, "MAKE A TRADE!!!"
What??? Going into the season the roster was clearly out of balance with a glaring lack of size... it's the smallest Blazer roster I've ever seen. Even GM Joe has been quoted saying the roster should be considered a work in progress.

Gaining quality size wont be easy though. I'm just hopeful Joe doesn't make a move just to do something... that would be so Neil.

last week we didn't have enough depth.

this week, we have too much?

do we need a redistribution of our depth to add size? yes

do we have so many quality NBA players that they all need PT? nah

Shouldn't that be three weeks and two days? Deadline is Feb. 9.

I like this trade but it's using assets to make a move on the margins. Gott try for bigger.
Which of the outgoing players do you actually consider to be an asset? They all feel like throwaways to me.

I like having a true PG on the roster as a backup, but I also like the 3 man-guard rotation of Dame, Ant, and Gp2. How many minutes would Rubio actually get?

It is not a horrible trade but it hurts us at a position of need. Winslow, although not perfect, is still our best defender against stronger forwards. No one can stop Lebron or Zion, but at least Winslow can offer resistance.

As for Robin, he and Brook are two types of players. Brook is still effective because he can shoot.
Still, he would be ok as our 3rd string C, but overall the trade seems like a move just to make a move.
