Many likely would do that trade, doubt Toronto would, they'd want more and I agree with them

I assume he will only be available if Raptors decide to blow it up, althoughj CJ McCollum was quoted just today that there is some dissatisfaction from some players in Toronto. But, yeh, Siakam is a real stat stuffer.
 
If we can't get Siakam, another guy I am interested in is Jalen McDaniels of Charlotte. Would only be available if he told them he doesn't want to re-sign with them as I think he will be a free agent this summer. Is some info that clubs are inquiring about him. He is a fourth year player with a contract under 2 million so se could match salary easily. Maybe they would take one of our forwards who is tied up for a couple more years or maybe they like Keon. We would need to include some kind of draft compensation also. This guy is not bad. has a .352 3pt average over four years but shooting career high .854 free throws so maybe could do better. Does a few different things: has a rebounding % of 10 compared to Grant's at 7. 1.4 steals per 36 and almost one block. Scored 26 points on very efficent shooting tonight against Boston.

SCOUTING REPORT

Wing/big hybrid who can do a bit of everything… Good size (6-foot-10) and decent length (7-foot-plus)… Respectable outside shooter… Doesn’t mind getting dirty and drawing charges or diving for loose balls… Plus-perimeter defender with quick… Good hands down low and finishes when he does get it down there… Still a work in progress but the upside is there.

The more I read, the more I think it would have to be a FRP. But he'd be a lot cheaper than Siakam. If we could get him and Bamba that would sure make us bigger and longer.

If they could get a guy like Ant, an expiring contract and a couple of first round picks for Siakam, then turn FVV into even an expiring contract and a first rounder... they wouldn't really be blowing it up. A foundation to build on of Ant, OG and Scottie Barnes is really nice. Obviously they have some other good young players to develop and vets to dump but I don't think it would be a bad move.

I also think that if I were the Hawks and I could get Ant from us for John Collins, I would auction off Trey to the highest bidder to build around Ant, Murray and the actual forwards they are playing right now... plus whatever they get for Trey.

Those are two teams that I think should retool in an explosive way but not consider it a blowup. Both of them should get what they can for their best player because they have so much good proven youth on those teams and proof that what they're currently doing doesn't work.

If you were Bobby Webster or more likely Masai, I would say, "Alright lets do it." Ant, Josh and our 2025 and 2027 FRPs top four protected for Siakam and Koloko. If there was push back on Koloko, I would take Bo Cruz (not Juancho, Bo). Actually if there was push back on Koloko I would offer to make one of the firsts a second instead. And I know we would have to call Chicago and guarantee our pick to them to make this work but they would probably do that for cash.

Hawks will never trade Trae. They gave up Luka for him. They won't admit that was a mistake.

We'll see, he's like Steph without the heart and even smaller. Unless he has the perfect supporting cast, he's just a shot maker and passer with nothing else, like Dame with even less size and none of the intangibles. Those intangibles despite Dames amazing tangible talents and skills are his best attributes. Dame is one of the best shooters ever, is one of the best guys at getting to the hoop in his generation and really passes the ball at an all nba or hall of fame level but at least in this season he's better than Trey ever has been or will be. So Trey should go if they can get good value in return for him and replace him with Ant for a whatever they might get for him.

It was only three weeks ago the rumors had him requesting a trade. Of course they are rumors but he has not come out and shut them down.
Honestly i think the problems there are more about Nate McMillan than with Trae. So i tend to agree with you they won't trade him.
 
1. Cronin stating this roster isn’t done is the starting point.
2. Sharpe as the starting SF is a couple years away … easily. He could grow into it, but as a SG he makes more sense.
3. Ant is better than CJ, now. He simply does more at 3 levels. The growth curve continues — trading him for OG is unlikely (Blazer playmakers are few) but Siakam … yeah, that would do it. [Simons + Hart or Nurkic + pick(s)]
4. Hart and Nurkic have the right sized contracts for a significant but not blockbuster move … Hart and his contract makes him most likely.
5. Want a real, back-up PG? Go get Payton Pritchard.

Well, of course, we don't know that they want to. But here's the reasoning:
1. The Raptors are underperforming this year, despite being comparatively healthy.
2. Ujiri will settle for no less than a contender.
3. However, he is prepared to go into the lottery should he think he can improve that way (that's how they got Barnes).
4. Currently they have something of a glut of forwards, and of the forwards (a) they're NOT trading Barnes, and (b) Siakam is the oldest.
5. Trading Siakam is a good way to tank this year and get a shot at Wemby, something you can bet Ujiri would LOVE.

So if he wants to tank this year, does that mean he won't want talent coming back that would help them this year? That would require a vet who makes a lot of money who they can sit and a lot of future draft picks.

The 'crunch' is the sound the Blazers made as the Nuggets rolled over them.

We are more than a player away. Too small in the backcourt, Nurk doesn't fit with the rest of the lineup, too small at SF, and little experience off the bench.

The thought of giving up Sharpe and multiple first rounders... it makes me sad.

It would be Cronin and the Blazers tripling (quadrupling?) down on "win now"... in spite of the fact that we've traded and extended the current roster to the point where we're in a firm competition for a play-in spot.

Sharpe is the best thing that's happened to the Blazers since the addition of Dame, and he may be the only guy standing when this current crop of Dame + Mediocrity finally gets flushed out of the franchise's system. It probably will be three or four years, but that's at least potential light at the end of the tunnel. A move involving Sharpe and a couple first rounders extends that indefinitely in my mind.

I will be very sad if we trade sharpe away. We have to hold onto him. Hopefully Schmitz is a positive influence in persuading Cronin to think twice about not giving away talent or picks in the pursuit of something unlikely.
