Bazemore is shooting 36% from 3 on 4 attempts per game this season. Getting that for ET is no "improvement in production?" Have you looked at ET's stats this year?
Turner has been battling injuries this season
and, to really gauge things properly, compare Turner last season to Bazemore this season...that's the exchange Portland made:
like I said, it hasn't been an upgrade
This is a strawman? Again, do I have to highlight what LAL paid to get rid of Deng/Mozgov? Or MEM with Parsons? etc etc.
the Lakers traded Mozgov and Russell for the
expiring contract of Brooke Lopez and for Kyle Kuzma. In other words, they got out of Mozgov's deal 2 years earlier than Portland. They bought-out and waived Deng at a discount. The result of those two moves was that the Lakers had the space to sign Lebron and trade for AD. Yeah, they did a fuck of a lot better than Portland
Memphis traded Parsons of Hill and Plumlee, then waived Plumlee. It was a revenue neutral trade and they got a player that's putting up better numbers than Bazemore. Besides that, Memphis was not trying to compete for a playoff spot like Portland, so the trade made sense for them
The one mistake I've repeatedly gotten Neil for was the stretch of Nicholson. There was literally no reason to do it. If you're gonna kill Neil repeatedly for the CJ extension in every thread, I'm hoping you give him just as much credit for the Nurk one.
first of all....I don't kill him in every thread. I've mentioned it two or three times today, but then in threads talking about Portland's current and future situations, and owing CJ 157M over 5 years seems rather germane to the present and future.
secondly, I have credited Olshey for the Nurkic contract, but I also recognize the circumstances: When Olshey has a lot of cap-space in a competitive cap-space market, he's been a fucking idiot. And when his favorite players are eligible for extensions, he goes crazy. When there is almost no cap-space around the league, no competition, and it's a total buyers market for centers, Olshey will get a C like Nurkic to sign a bargain deal. Should Olshey get the credit for a rare sign of restraint, or should it be the market?
