My work will be good about it. They do all kinds of charitable stuff. We're all talking about it now. My coworker gave some tickets to friends because he hates country.

The people he gave them to are ok.

He was really relieved.

I'm guessing they're going to rename Mandalay Bay in the next year.

Weird that ISIS is claiming responsibility.

I guess I have never noticed them claiming responsibility for a 64 year old white dude before.

They claimed responsibility before the shooter's identity was released.

Numbers updated:

58 dead, 515 injured.

First off if you read my post I clearly said, wait let me quote it for you.

I don't really see why you missed that. But I'm glad you told me it didn't stop him from getting a AR.

Also the Bill which was passed when I was less than 5 years old had a 10 year expiration date.
Secondly April 17 2013 the AWB failed on the senate floor 40-60.
Also you or I could purchase a m16.

Unless you know of a specific bill I don't... I don't know of a AWB.

My cousin's oldest son Blake was there, one friend hit twice and expected to survive, and his girlfriend was spattered with blood (not hers). He kept his friends together in the panic, got them all to his truck, drive the eounded kid to the hospital, and got the rest to his house safely. This is the same kid who was in a sandrail that caught fire a few years back.
Wow. How scary!

Weird that ISIS is claiming responsibility.

They try to take responsibility for everything. Its the dealiest mass shooting in US history. Of course they want to take responsibility. This had nothing to do with Isis It was some wealthy old white dude.

^^BTW, I post that partially because a suppresor would've (for an automatic weapon of, say, .308 caliber), still maintained a ballistic "crack" of roughly 130dB. True, it wouldn't have come from the exact direction of the shooter (due to phase shift and other physics stuff not worth getting into here), so if you were doing counter-fire detection you would likely be off, but to Mrs. Secretary's point, if the shooter had had a "silencer", the crowd would still have heard the fire of gunshots in rapid-fire fashion at ~130dB (sound of a jackhammer, or louder than a Seahawks game at full roar)...which one would submit would cause the crowd to run anyway.

Boy, those 2nd amendment rights sure make me feel safer...
It probably wouldn't have helped here, as from everything I've read the shooter was high up outside the venue, but 2nd Amendment rights usually go away when you go to a concert or nightclub or something. I don't know that anyone inside that amphitheater had the legal right to a weapon.

Sounds like the cops got to him sooner because the fire alarm went off in his room.

Fucking fuck

We can thank our corrupt government for yet another mass shooting. If these fucks weren't taking money from corporations and billionaires to do their bidding and cut taxes to the rich, states would have the money to better deal with mental health in this country. We would also have better gun laws, but you can't even get a sensible gun bill past these corrupt fucks in congress.

To every cocksucker opposed to better gun laws... go fuck yourself... From me.

I was in Vegas just a few weeks ago. Damn.

I wonder what changes in hotel security will result from this incident. Getting 10 rifles up to a 34th floor room seems like something that should be able to be stopped with reasonable security measures. Metal detectors coming at all major hotels?

And they say there's no reasonable discourse on this topic.

It would be impossible. Too many entrances in and out of the casino.

Not that many elevators. When we stayed at the Aria last year, we had to show our room key to security in order to get on an elevator to go up to our room. Wouldn't have been hard to have had some sort of metal detector at that point.

I can almost guarantee that there are a bunch of lawyers looking to take on some of the victims and/or their families as clients who will be thinking of ways that the Mandalay Bay should have been able to prevent this guy from getting that kind of armament up to his room.

Okay, so you have metal detectors, which 99% of the people will set off because of keys and smartphones. Then you have to have places where they and their luggage can be searched.

I stay at Mandalay Bay a couple times a year for work. That hotel is massive, so many exits in and out. Trying to figure out how he got that many rifles up to his room unnoticed. A truck? Garment bags? If you ask for one of those gold luggage carts they will just give you one, had to of been how he did it. This is just horrible.

Doesn't seem hard to get the guns in. Nobody ever examines your luggage at a hotel, and you can bring as much as you like.

I assume that metal detectors have sensitivity settings? Shouldn't be too hard to differentiate between a rifle and a set of keys.
