Aldridge / Lopez /T. Rob minute share

Does anyone really think Aldridge, Lopez and Robinson are all going to play 82 games? I’d say that’s pretty freaking unlikely. So at some point Meyers will get opportunities to prove himself in extended minutes.

I think the only way a guy like Meyers improves is if he is given more than 5 minutes a game. Probably closer to 15-20 minutes a game. And if he is the 'star' many say he is going to be, why not? Do you really believe deep down this roster is going to make a serious advancement from last year? This is a year to develop your players in preparation for better things to come.
I was with you until you said: "if he is the 'star' many say he is going to be...". Who the hell said Myers Leonard is going to be a star? I'm a Leonard supporter, and I think he has a lot of potential, and I think he needs minutes to develop, but he will never be a "star". If he were that good, he'd show it already.

First of all, it wasn't me. I don't think he is that kind of material.

But JC is one of them.

He's out of position too often. He's awkward at times, and the only thing that's consistent about his game is that it's reliably inconsistent. In fact, the Trail Blazers spent a good portion of their summer seeking a player who could make him a back-up. But every time I see Meyers Leonard on the basketball floor I believe he will one day be the answer in Portland.

Leonard turned 21 last NBA season. And if you want to polarize your next cocktail party, wait for a lull, and ask for a show of hands of those who believe Leonard will one day start a playoff game at center for the Blazers. Because this city is no longer Eastside vs. Westside. It's not hipsters vs. yuppies. As division goes, there are those who believe Leonard will blossom, and those who think he's a stiff.

I see a star.

If he is star material you think he could be, you need to find him time especially in a year where I think you can be a lil more generous with it. You can play it just the way Mags is suggesting it. Bench Meyers or play him 5 mins a game and still come up short of the playoffs under that dynamic.

I am willing to bet a cool nickel (outside chance you'll never get it if I win) that Aldridge is gone before the season

You may be correct. The Blazers may just be waiting for a better offer. I think it would have to be a 3 way deal if the Blazers grant him his wish and send him to a team in Texas. Bit it wouldn't surprise me if talks are in the works behind the scenes.

I think the whole idea of Aldridge going public about not wanting to be traded was to help the Blazers bargaining leverage. And it wouldn't surprise me if he was told by Neil Olshey or his agent to do it.

I hear this idea an awful lot that Portland can send Aldridge to Texas and get youth from a 3rd team.

Well what the hell team has valuable youth for the spare parts of the Texas teams? I just don’t see any assets on those Texas teams that makes sense directly or indirectly for Aldridge.

Why would Aldridge want the Blazers to get more in return for trading him? That would weaken the team he goes to. That’s why players are encouraged to make their demands public like Melo, CP3 and Howard did.

Only Houston / Detroit idea seems the best for me.

Pieces coming back asik / Monroe / parsons and probably a couple first rounders. Send out Aldridge / batum / maybe Barton.

There can only be a deal if both teams agree to it. What are the chances Portland agrees to a deal that is lopsided one direction due to them being held hostage by LA's trade demands?

He can only go if Portland allows it. Therefore he has to work for them to make it happen. Don't believe Portland is going to just let him go. They will hold on to him for however long it takes. Not sure LA is on board with that.
