OT Aldridge may not finish season with Spurs

I'm assuming Pop is trying to turn him into something he's not. They are both fighting tooth and nail over this and now the rumors are flying.

The best coach and scheme for him was here in Portland. It allowed him to exactly what he wanted to do. Should have never bolted.

I'm assuming Jabari Young is Jabari Young, hence this story has zero credibility.

LaMarcus told Jabari Parker-Young that he was going to be the Greatest Spur ever and break every record. When JPY told him that wasn't possible, he started pouting, grabbed a hanky, started crying and sneezing all over the place and started his new career as LaMucas.

I see Jabari Young is still doing what he does best - not breaking news.

Probably.

Pops maybe trying to use the media to get something out of him that he wants to get out of him. That's where Phil Jackson would go if he needed something out of someone. Using and working the media.

I don't see them trading him unless he's an absolute cancer and I don't ever remember him being that here.

Yeah. It''s absolutely IMPOSSIBLE that LMA would revert to previous behavior patterns. He's with a first rate organization and a first rate coach. We are just judgemental and bitter.... Lamarcus has turned over a new leaf.

....And in other's news, Joe Buck is now a nationally loved and respected baseball broadcaster.

This may be the best day in Blazer history! Walton winning us the championship comes close...I'll have to think about it.

I am late to the party!! I just discovered this article

http://m.mysanantonio.com/sports/sp...umors-surfacing-Aldridge-s-future-9981115.php

and ran to the board to celebrate! I knew there would be a thread going already. Woo wooo!! Who brought the doughnuts? I'll bring the booze!

Since I posted that an hour and a half ago, I've gone through my sister's birthday events. Now I can return and start reading this mouth-watering thread...I finally have something to celebrate!

It's training camp...I'm guessing ancient Pau Gasol destroyed Lamarcus in practice and they realized he's really cheap compared to LA....easy decision...use the Lamarcus hype to get a team player who's coachable...Lamarcus isn't coachable

D'Antoni says Pau can't play for him though! :bgrin:

"Spurs coach Gregg Popovich and GM R.C. Buford are not ones to panic, though. If there is some friction behind the scenes, the recent addition of Monty Williams to the front office staff may help, as Williams and Aldridge are close dating back to their days in Portland."

Doubtful if the friction is between LMA and Pop. Pop is always going to win that battle. And you know LA never forgets.

I would agree...but it would take a Griffin or Horford to get Lamarcus and Danny Ainge is not shy to do trades. I think the Clippers have the best shot

LMA for Thomas and the Nets draft pick makes sense for both teams.

No way does BOS give up Horford to get him. Horford actually makes his teammates better and is more than willing to play center. Horford is the ultimate chameleon. He blends in at both ends of the court for the betterment if his team. On offense, he can score in the post, but can also step out and hit the mid to long range jumper, where he shoots both the 16-footer and the 3-pointer better than Aldridge.

On defense, Hordord can defend in the post and is also a great pick and roll defender.

What does make sense for BOS is to pair Aldridge with Horford. They are both the same age, would give BOS a big, versatile front line (mostly due to Horford's willingness and ability to play the 5).

BNM

Funny. I called for a Aldridge/Horford trade about 4 or 5 years ago and I was booed out of the place. I love what Horford brings. Brilliant move by Ainge landing him.

If I'm the Celtics there's no way I'm making that trade. Aldridge is 31. He's clearly a malcontent. The Celtics are a good defensive team, and Aldridge is not a good defender.
Celtics are overloaded at the point, underloaded with Bigs.

Smart-Bradley-Crowder-Aldridge-Horford is a completely ridiculously good starting lineup - championship contending good, and better than who they're starting now (Amir Johnson).

...and better than who they're starting now (Amir Johnson).
Whom they'd also have to include in a Thomas for Aldridge deal in order to match salaries.

I almost posted that very deal like 6 hours ago, but it seemed silly to me from the Spurs' point of view, since Thomas would instantly be the worst defensive player on their roster.

Albitch deserves to get flushed to Sacramento and toil the rest of his sorry career away in mediocre obscurity.

Get into line behind me. I used to say something bad about Aldridge every couple of weeks and get booed out of the thread. Now it's Lillard. In general, whoever's a team's Designated Best Player shoots way too many bad shots. The guys who don't shoot and defer to him would be capable of more than they dare to show, if allowed to get into a season-long rhythm. But it's hard for the Coach to decentralize an offense, so that'll never change.

Unlike Lillard, Aldridge's limitations are self-imposed, not innate. He has the talent to be a Duncan-like Player of the Decade, which Lillard does not. Brandon Roy and Batum both used to quietly put up with Aldridge's passive resistance. If you ignore potential like Aldridge's, Roy is the best player we've had since at least Sheed, and probably since Walton.

Here's what I don't understand. Why should we spend 8 pages on LaMarcus Aldridge? Whether you love him, hate him, or anything in between, we Blazers fans have our own headaches and he's not one of them.
