Teams almost never get equal value in return for players like Aldridge, fringe all-stars, if we could get equal value with picks and youth sure pull the trigger. But the offers will be things like Asik and Houstons crappy draft picks or David Lee and Klay Thompson.

I'd rather just see Aldridge play out his contract and then leave in free agency; that is better than taking the Cavs #1 pick in a terrible draft or a guy like Klay Thompson. Even if Aldridge hits unrestricted free agency planning to leave there is always a small chance it doesn't work out with other teams then he and the Blazers come to a deal.

I haven't seen any rumored trade offers that are enticing. Just think of the next two years as renting Aldridge similar to how we rented Gerald Wallace for a few late 1st round picks. If some team offers us the next Lillard for Aldridge like the Nets did then sure go ahead and take it but otherwise we should just enjoy his days in a Blazer uniform.

I'm right there with you. Nothing offered or even talked about makes me feel good about trading him. I would almost rather wait it out and see what happens.
 
To get a good deal in any bargain transaction you have to be able to walk away from it. If the Blazers decide to trade Aldrdige no matter what they won't maximize their return. Sure we should listen to deals that improve the team in the long run but if the deals don't improve the team then just stay the course. It's stupid to panic and make a bad trade out of fear of a worse case scenario of a player maybe leaving years down the road. If we start doing that now we set a terrible precedent.
 
What is the best-case scenario regarding LMA? Realistically.
And what's the worst-case scenario?

Well looking at the other all-star Blazer power forwards we traded away:

Best case is Dale Davis
Average case is Steve Francis and Rudy Fernandez
Bad case is Shareef and Theo Ratliff then overpaying a huge extension to validate such mistake.
Worst case is Shawn Kemp

Best case is he stays, Lillard improves, everyone stays healthy, and we are able to add another star somehow in the next year to make a run

Worst case is he stays, stays healthy, and he leaves for nothing

Oh - I wasn't asking about best/worst for trades. Just out of all the possible things we can do with LMA, what's the best scenario and what's the worst. I just came up with several avenues - feel free to add more if there are things I haven't thought about:
#1 – Trade for high-impact, proven player.
#2 – Trade for a young player with high potential to become an impact player.
#3 – Trade for player with unknown potential.
#4 – Trade for multiple rotational players.
#5 – Trade for draft picks.
#6 – Sign & Trade.
#7 – Let him walk in Free Agency.
#8 – Re-sign LMA to a max contract.

Best case is he resigns for max. Worst case is trading him for multiple rotation players.

Throw in Leonard. We'd take him, and we actually need a guy who can play some C. Thibs will turn him into a monster.

I don't think that's a win for the Bulls.

The deal I suggested, I think, is really good for both teams.

You get an elite starting C on a cheap contract, plus a guy to help fill in at PF with LMA gone. Hinrich is filler to make the salaries work. Losing Wes gets you lots of PT for CJ and Crabbe (I like both a lot).

The Bulls get a better post up option who can stretch defenses, too. Plus a guy who will be our starting SG in a year when Deng leaves as a FA.

I love the idea of a Deng/Boozer/LMA front court this year, and Butler/Mirotic/LMA the year after.

I think there's enough wiggle room in the salaries to throw in Leonard. He'd play a lot for us, allowing LMA to slide over to PF while Boozer gets his rest. For you he's 3rd string behind Noah and Lopez.
 
Why not just let LMA walk in 2 years and then throw everything at Kevin Love? We will have the cap space to do it.

POR Brass thinks too highly of Leonard right now to throw him in. Why? Who knows. But they do. So you won't get both him and Wes in addition to LMA imo. One or the other.
 
What is the point of trading for Noah if you're losing Aldridge? That makes no sense. I also think we should develop Robinson, and Noah's style would clash with him.

You won't have the PT to develop him. Unfortunately, I don't see much else on the Bulls that makes sense to throw in. Malcolm Thomas? They might throw in 2nd round picks.

For some reason, the Bulls are really high on Noah, so I really don't think this kind of deal gets done.
