As mosy of you know I've always supported Girardi but if he were replaced and I could have my choice of managers to take the Yankees Francona would be my 1st choice, even over Buck.
...^^^ aye aye aye to that notion. Franco knows well, better than most, how to build a club, from scratch.
Francona, is one Mgr out of a few; I'd want in the dugout. Another IMO would be the same Mgr I always tore apart, when he was in Tampa, Anaheim prior; and that would be
Mad-Don. Go Cubs...!
Either way, yeah I'd not mind any of these 3 as Yanx Skippers, hell maybe even
Sweet Lou if he's not to far gone. I always liked Pinella, especially after reading in SI, how Lou himself would take Donnie BB aside, one on one and show Don, what Lou was seeing that Don was not. I believe 'Lou for a skipper' was always a debatable subject on BSPN boards...? (but I'm not sure).
Comparing both
Buck and
Francona:
Francona knew when to throw his ace southpaw closer (Miller), in middle relief, when needed most in the game situation; or management.
While Buck slept, and let Britton warm up for nothing, when he was needed most, but never got the call; and the
O's ship sank once again, with the skipper re-arranging chairs on deck, and playing the violin, aboard the Titanic.
Back to
Girardi. I hope he gets a free hand in the development, placement and use of the Gang of Prospects. I pray he uses his Pitching staff wisely; and is given a staff capable of pitching to the 7-9th innings. These last few years of being on edge in the 5th inning, with the SP on the rocks, has grown old. Time to re-load...
