The idea of Boston getting Simmons makes me want to physically vomit. Ainge scammed Brooklyn out of their pick is just what Auerbach used to do to unsuspecting teams in the 70's and 80's.

Actually, I don't just hate Boston sports (yes, I am jealous.) I hate the place physically, and intellectually. I hate Nathaniel Hawthorne. I hate Oliver Wendell Holmes. And Matt Damon. F-ck you!

Idk. We are what 5th worse? It's not that uncommon for 4,5,6 winning #1

If we could even get #2 or #3, those picks are very valuable. And skal labisserie is still abailable at #2

If Portland can somehow get their hands on Simmons, brandon Ingram, or jaylen brown, they're going to win a championship within the next 4 years.

What I'm saying is, they're one wing scorer away.

Do you also think the twin towers was a US plot?

The NBA has Ernst and Young review the procedures. They are a way bigger company than the NBA and don't give a shit about such and such prospect going somewhere. One of the biggest 4 accounting firms in the world isn't putting their reputation on the line lightly.

Which of the big 5 accounting firms went down in flames with Enron? Was it Cooper's? If the money is right, 2+2= whatever the hell you want.

Ernst and Young has gross revenue of $27.4 billion per year. The Lakers have $0.3 billion. Why would Ernst and Young care about the Lakers tiny amount of money?

You might think the Lakers are some huge company because they have all these titles and are based in LA but compared to multinational corporations they are tiny.

But if it happened, it wouldn't be at the behest of one team. It would come from the League itself, under pressure from the networks and corporate sponsors.

Nah, Coopers merged with Price Waterhouse. Arthur Anderson was involved in the Enron scandal.

However, Draco is right. EY couldn't care less about the Lakers. On the other hand, it's not unreasonable to think that an individual EY accountant very well could use a few hundred grand...

If you add up every dollar of revenue of all 30 NBA teams its less than 20% of what Ernst & Young makes in a year. The NBA is an insignificant part of their business. There is zero chance they risk the integrity of their reputation on what some sponsors of a small client want.

Go grab your tinfoil hat and worry about a different far fetched fear.

They work for the NBA. They do what they're toldto do, when they're told to do it. And the customer is always right....so yes, I believe it is entirely possible if and when the NBA chooses do it...

I don't think it is possible to cheat the lottery, but that video of the Ewing draft lottery was kinda fishy though.
 
So I saw Simmons play in person tonight. LSU came to play College of Charleston and COC actually kicked their ass for the upset. It was 39-17 at the half and ended at 70-58. There was definitely Simmons hype in the air; over a dozen scouts and I'm assuming that's why I saw Rich Cho there. Although I hadn't seen him play prior to tonight, I'd say he underwhelmed (15 points, 18 rebounds, 4 assists, but 7 turnovers) and it doesn't help when your team loses to such a lesser-known opponent. Could definitely see his athleticism on display though. Not a game he'll want to talk about going forward.

43 points on 15/20 shooting. 14 rebounds, 7 assists, 5 steals, 3 blocks.

43/14/7 with 5 steals and 3 blocks. THAT IS NUTS at any level.

For a guy who is supposed to score and be such a great passer, he is leading all of the NCAA in rebounding. Worth losing a couple of extra games for....
 
I'm not sure we haven't already won so many games that we can't get the #1 pick. I know there is always a chance, but I don't think anybody is going to finish with a worse record than Philly. And lets face it if the NBA is going to rig the lottery for someone its going to be for a team like the Lakers, not us.

Doubtful anyone catches Philly in terms of losses but being the worst doesn't often get the #1 pick. Being in the top 4/5 at least gives a team a decent shot. No guarantee at all but if an additional loss here or there means the difference between #10 and #5, that seems well worth it. Portland can do that without trying to tank.

Yeah I know there's technically always a chance. But I'm not sure we can finish in the bottom 3 unless we decide to really start losing. You almost have to try to be that bad now a days with all the tanking and what not. I think pic 5-10 is much more realistic than picks 1-3 for us.

Exactly but the difference in chances between #5 and #19 historically is quite a bit but in terms of record, might not be that much.

Just general recall but I'm sure someone could look it up. Like the year Portland/Seattle went 1/2. They were both outside of the Top-3. Earlier, Portland had the worst record and was #4?

Yep. I remember we played Seattle near the end of the season. Most everyone on the old board wanted us to lose (I wanted us to win, always do). We WON but we still ended up getting the number one pick! Maybe everyone was right. If we had lost to Seattle, we would've gotten the 2 pick and we'd have Durant.
