Is Paul Millsap a good comparison? Millsap made himself into an elite defender, but offensively, I see a lot of similarities.

His passing has been a surprise. He is not just hitting the open man. He is at times leading a teammate to create an opening.
Sounds like a 10 year vet.
I'd like to see Vonleh and Swanigan go at it.
I'm losing my touch if it took 100 timesYou know how the 100th it just starts becoming obnoxious ?
Wasn't going for clever, so that's ok.
It wasn't even clever the first time.
BNM
Yes, you can.Wasn't going for clever, so that's ok.
You can't have people say it's just summer league when someone struggles on one hand and then praise a summer league performance on the other.
He's a Blazer alright. Choked against the Lakers.
Yes, you can.
We're not scouts. We're not GM's. We're not responsible to evaluate objectively at all times. We're fans. We're only responsible to see things in the manner which brings us the greatest amount of enjoyment from this diversion from reality. If you derive joy from evaluating players objectively, then more power to you. If others prefer to magnify the successes and minimize the failures for the sake of increasing or prolonging hope for the future, then that's their prerogative. Why must one perspective be more or less valid than the other?
I couldn't agree more.Yes, you can.

...no no, Elton Brand was an elite defender and shot blocker thru most of his career (he also only shot 21 total three pointers during his 17 seasons in the NBA)
Interesting:lol?
Brand was a good defender & shot blocker during his time with the Clippers. Which was about 6 seasons.
Stop looking at basketball reference to make your judgement on a player.
From OregonLive:
"In eight games, Swanigan averaged 16.1 points and 10.6 rebounds, recording six double-doubles while joining Blake Griffin, Kevin Love and Marreese Speights as the fourth rookie to average a double-double at summer league."
It's just summer league, but that's pretty good company.
I don't see how Swanigan is not our starting PF on opening night over Vonleh or Aminu... assuming no other trades are made
This is false information though.

9 players have averaged double doubles in SL, including Thomas Robinson.
Were they rookies?
Alan Williams was a rookie when he averaged a double double in 15-16:

The statement you quoted specifically mentioned rookies, so Alan Williams would make it five, correct?
I agree!IMO his closest comp is Kevin Love.
What say you?
At least 5. I didn't check the other ones, but the quote just seemed wrong. I just don't know where they got their information from. Dwight Howard also averaged 18 points 9.9 rebounds, so I guess he doesn't count, but it's not as impressive as it seems.
As you've already said this three times, we'll take it as read that you think this from now on.Right now the steal of the draft could be the pick right after Swanigan.... Kyle Kuzma at 27
They just want something to be happy about. At least RealGM has stats available. It used to be hard to find SL stats. They even have advanced metrics. Pretty awesome.
Don't discount seniority, knowing the system, and the fact that Aminu is our best defender. No harm in Swanigan being a featured scorer off the bench.I don't see how Swanigan is not our starting PF on opening night over Vonleh or Aminu... assuming no other trades are made
NBA.com did these "stat nugget" things for Summer League, and one that surprised me was that Swanigan was the leading "shot contester" one day. That's very encouraging. Let's see if I can find the link...
Okay, not leading, but he had 14, which is pretty good:

I want this for every Blazer game this year. It has been the biggest problem with our defense for years, IMO.What a time to be alive for basketball stat junkies.

Hey, this is probably why we lost that game!
