Exclusive All Things Brandon Miller

I would not hate having both, but nonetheless, he is 6'4" and we have Thybulle. So before we add him (which is moot because Denver will keep him) we need to find a longer/bigger defender first.

It's very unlikely that they can keep Bruce Brown due to the cap. That's why they just acquired a 1st round pick from OKC.

They can offer him a $7.8 million starting salary. How much can we offer? (I honestly do not know)

Since there has been some chatter about NOP wanting to move up, potentially offering up Ingram, here's a comp between the two Brandons -

Lots of similarities in their games.

Full MLE is 10.5

I would absolutely give him that with max number of years which is 4.

So we get the full MLE? I thought someone said we had to not pick up any qualifying offers.
If true I would look at using it on a center first like maybe Naz Reid.

If we use the full MLE, Portland is hard-capped at ~$168M.
With what we anticipate paying Grant & other FA -> it might not be wise to use the full MLE

They're similar but Miller's game is 'softer' than Ingram's.

Danny Granger is still the best comparison I've seen for Miller and I expect him to be on that tier of talent (not quite meeting the Tatum tier that some people hope for).

That's not a bad thing at all, obviously. Though, I do think Amen Thompson is a better fit, chemistry-wise, than Miller.

Ingram isn't a good comp for Miller.
Miller is a great 3-point shooter.
If Ingram were a great 3-point shooter, he'd be up there with KD.

Ingram is a 'weird' 3 point shooter. Look at his 7 NBA seasons:

that's one of the widest variances I've seen, and it repeats. I mean, 3 seasons at 39% or higher; and 3 seasons at 33% and lower. Crazy, and you really don't want to be counting on him in a season he's shooting three's like Evan Turner

If anything, I bet it corresponds with his health, which is also a bit of a red flag for a non-superstar.

The leaks will be interesting. If he has a great workout and they want him, do they downplay it? Or if they want Scoot to keep or trade should they let it leak that Miller looked incredible? Or does it make any difference?

Sure will be interesting, as well as the “media session”.

I think there's a possibility Portland wants Amen or Miller more than Scoot, so yeah, I think they'll show clips and stuff but I don't think it'll be the 'it was the greatest workout of all time.'

Schmitz did have an all out love affair interview with the Twins a year or so ago....

Hopefully the offers are so good that Charlotte can't turn them down.
If one thinks Miller is the superior talent, then Portland comes out great either way. They either get the best talent or they get the best trade chip.

Yeah, totally. I'm one who thinks we almost certainly need to keep the pick because of the new CBA. And if that's the case, Miller is a better fit. If you get Scoot, we'll have a better trade chip.

Either way we're sitting pretty.

If he can be as good, or better than LaMarcus Aldridge, Awesome. That's the blueprint.

LMA had a few inches on him.

a couple maybe; Aldridge was 6'10 w/o shoes

Miller actually looks kind of tall so I'd guess around 6'8 w/o shoes; maybe 6'8.5 but I doubt it. I wish he would have been measured at the combine

it is impressive that he has the perimeter game he's shown and still averaged 9 reb/36 in the SEC. And I think I'm more impressed with him averaging 86% on FT's than with his 38.4% on three's. Usually, FT% is an excellent upside indicator of shooting touch

by the way: Miller had a FG% of .430 and a 3ptFG% of .384. But if you delete those 4 games at the end of the season when he was battling a groin injury, his FG% was .459 and his 3ptFG% was .403

Curious how their wingspan compares. Miller didn't do the measurements.

I feel like they've got a template in presenting workout material so far. The videos they've released for the Thompsons, Scoot, and Whitmore have largely been similar
