I am going on record that I will eat my hat if we draft Knecht at 7. He is not a Cronin type player. And I'm kind of glad. Plus if Cronin believes in Sharpe then Knecht will have to be a complementary player and he's the kind of player where he's either your star or he's not much use. Cronin takes a big swing with the high picks and then picks players with high floors with the lower picks. (Rupert was an exception, but I think they were surprised he was there.)

If Kris Murray is a Cronin-type-player, so is Knecht.

It’s all gonna hinge on his shooting. If he can get his percentage up around 37-38% I think he will stick.

Agreed on both fronts!

I'll put it this way: If the team who drafts Knecht calls Portland right after and offers him for Murray, straight up, I'm taking the deal in a split-second.

What flavor is your hat?
 
Ripcity Uprise did a good segment on Dalton, talking about how much other teams focused on him. yet he still was able to maintain a great scoring output with good efficiency. His offense will translate well to the NBA I think.

I don't see how he's a bad defender either. I think some people just default to that position whenever they see white shooter.

He's got a 39 inch vert and did well in all the speed/agility tests. It's not like he's an Adam Morrison type stiff.
 
If Charlotte thinks they will be re-signing Bridges, I think Knecht would be a good fit along side LaMelo.
Castle would be good as well but I think he will be gone at #4.

That seems high for Knecht but he fills a bigger need than either Buzelis or Clingan.
 
The only thing I'm 100% certain of (in relation to this draft) is that if the Blazers pick Knecht, people will hate it. If the Spurs draft him, it proves they're genius.

Actually, I'm going to amend this. I'll add if the Thunder pick him up it'll be a case of the "rich getting richer" and how brilliant their GM is.

I see what you're saying, but he does kind of make more sense for both the Thunder and the Spurs, who have great defense (or in the Spurs case, a great defender) already in place and he just provides shotmaking sprinkled on top. They can afford a few players that are specialists. We, on the other hand, need players who can both play offense and defense. Our basic problem is we have players that are EITHER one (extreme: Anfernee) OR the other (extreme: Matisse).

Who cares? Knecht’s age is not a handicap: it’s an advantage. Lillard succeeded right away because he stayed in college all four years, and was 22 when he entered the league. I’d say Knecht has a better chance of making a difference in his first year than many of the other players in the lottery.
 
If I can take Knecht at #7 or Scheierman at #34, I'll take Scheierman all day.
Someone else pointed out the measurables and age similarities, but Scheierman seems to have a much more complete game.

Some of these are fairly close, but the rebounding and assists are dramatically different. From a value standpoint where I'm expecting someone who can stretch the floor, I'll take the kid from Creighton.
