All Things Domantas Sabonis

He had two subpar games but has since picked it up - last two games:

18 pts | 16 rebs | 9-16 FG
16 pts | 10 rebs | 5-7 FG

If they are in it year after year then it is not working. What this tells me is that tanking to get high lottery picks is not a proven solution to rebuilding a franchise. So there is no reason to stop them from doing it.

I am not saying any other way works better, just that tanking is a far from proven strategy.
Houston and San Antonio beg to differ. Just because some stupid schmucks suck at it doesn't mean all GMs do. Hell, the Blazers drafted Walton then beefed up on the ABA dispersal draft, because they sucked, and got a championship out of it before injuries derailed our dynasty. It can work if you know how.

Philly is just a joke. An absolute joke. They keep tanking but they never get the top pick. It's like they never learn.

Its E.Kanter around the basket, with rebounding like young K.Love. One think he obsess with grab every rebound and make every shot. Its rare see player who makes .750%+ his shots, and grab almost .20%+ available rebounds, plus hes good defender.

NBA comparison?
Draymond Green kind of versatility and passing skills.
Kevin Love in Minny type of rebounding and skill.

He does look a bit small because of his short arms, though and that worries me. But his motor more than makes up for it.

Starting to go all in on this guy.

Don't worry about his camp measurements. Look at DX's measurement database and you'll notice how wildly inaccurate they are. Fwiw, Gonzaga lists him at 6'11", 240 lbs. He does lack length though.

17 ppg | 11 rpg | 32 PER | 69 TS%

Vs. Tennessee:

36 pts | 16 rebs | 75 FG%

A comp that I heard: Tiago Splitter

I think Sabonis is a much better passer but I can see the comparison.

If Dejuan Blair can play defense at PF being only 6'6 then I don't see a problem with Sabonis doing it.

Those are camp measurements. Notoriously inaccurate.

But he does lack length.

He's in a major slump but Meyers can shoot the three. In two years at Illinois: 1-12 from three.

Sabas has good form. He'll add range.

I wonder why they have such a hard time measuring guys. That Pat Connoughton 44" vertical was BS.

I remember hearing that there is a way to game the vertical leap measurement a bit, and that his vertical is more like 40'-41'', which is still pretty damn good. I think vertical leap measurements are overrated though. Having a sick vertical doesn't help you move your feet on defense.

Main achievements of his are defense. Sabonis become anchor of Gonzaga's defence.
Also his carrier (ORtg - DRtg) = (127 - 92) = 35 rating particular.

p.s carrier TRB% 19.2, in current season it converts to (14.6rb/40min). And he's athletic and strong enough.

Maintaining his production nicely:

18.1 ppg | 10.7 rpg | 65 fg % | 69 ts% | 31.4 PER | 26.4 drb% (<--- Kevin Love territory)

I want to believe, but I look at him and I think of a Lithuanian Joel Freeland.

I think Lituanian Zach Randolph might be a fair (and not uncomplimentary) comparison.

I watched the BYU -Gonzaga game and thought to myself....why the fuck do we have a thread about Sabonis and not the kid from Jesuit? (Wiltjer) I will take his 35 pts /10 rebounds over the 5 pts and 6 rebounds I saw from Sabonis. Joking aside, neither is a lotto pick.

In possibly his final game with the Zags:

19 pts | 17 rebs | 5 blks | 67 fg% | @ Elite Eight

How DX doesn't have him in the top-10 is asinine. Sabonis doesn't have elite size but his feel for the game is unmatched in this draft - like Draymond Green was in his draft.
