Sabas and it's not close.

GP2 would be a solid pickup if you can get him in the 30s.
No. You were saying someone hasn't interviewed with anyone because their agent has kept them under wraps. I'm trying to figure out which of the two you are talking about.

Sabonis.

He has yet to take part in any draft process - the draft is only 24 days away.

but just like what was said about GPII, his dad is a hall of famer, when you have that coaching you up it will make a difference. Sabas sure as shit wasn't the most athletic dude when he finally came over here but boy did he make it work. things are gunna start coming together for him as he gets a little older and puts on some nba weight.
The dad was a very, very big man.

I wish S2 would ban posting of articles from these websites that so obviously make up their own rumor stories.

In the proposed trade scenario, the Trail Blazers would send a package that includes Anfernee Simons, Nassir Little, Robert Covington, a 2023 first-round pick, and a 2022 second-round pick to the Pacers in exchange for Sabonis.

Why The Pacers Would Make The Trade

:biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh:
Neil would have to have some serious dirt that would put the decision maker in prison for a long time to make that trade work.

Sabonis isn't that much better than Nurkic. I don't know why we'd trade every good young player we have for a minor upgrade and then, presumably, lose Nurk.

I also don't think that the Pacers would do it unless they were really comfortable with Turner at the 5. They have pretty good wing-type players already which is what they'd be getting back, so even if they DID want to move on from Sabonis I'm not sure that Portland deal would be the best they could do.

You don't seriously believe this, do you?

Nurkic at his aboslute peak is about what Sabonis is on a daily basis. Problem is... peak Nurk only shows up for about a month of every season due to things that are both in his control and otherwise.

I absolutely do. I watched about 60 Pacers games last year, and Sabonis is not a good perimeter shooter, he's a decent passer, and he's a good rebounder. He's good and fine but he's not THAT good.

He's healthier than Nurk, for sure. Which is good but not worth trading half a roster for.

Availability is a real thing, but Sabonis put up numbers on a bad team where he got to touch the ball a lot. That wouldn't happen in Portland and I don't know that it should happen for any team that wants to win regularly.

First, I see no reason they couldn't find a better package for Sabonis.

Second, the only way it really makes sense from the Blazers is if they can get a good trade for Nurk and probably a good one for CJ too. Then, Lillard, Sabonis and Norm surrounded by whatever we got back from Nurk and CJ would be the team. I can't see that coming together. One of the rare - no good for either team - deals.

Nurkic with some mental health help would eat Sabonis for breakfast.
Try to imagin Nurk on Indiana team last season as a first option. He would do 20 till halftime.

Wonder what would you expect from Sabas with Blazers last season. With Lillard and CJ takin all the air, how could he do 20/10?

He is way more efficient than Nurk. Nurk is really a bad finisher so he can never be a first option. Sabonis could have close to 20/10 everywhere if he got starters minutes.

He had great numbers the previous season as well with his team getting the 4th seed. He is a two time All Star, really not comparable to Nurk who is also 2 years older.

Maybe. I believe other way. Nurk went from Malone to Stotts. If Sabas was in Portland he wouldn't take shots from Dame and couldn't take shots from CJ under Stotts.

I think Sabonis is better, but all things considered, the gap isn't terribly large

however, about that point you're arguing: Sabonis only averaged 0.7 more FGA's per 100possessions than Nurkic. He wasn't chucking up shots at a significantly higher rate than Nurkic and their usage rates were Sabas at 24.1% and Nurkic at 22.3%. Again, that's not a big difference

and that higher usage was justified in that Sabonis was significantly more efficient as a scorer; he had a TS% advantage of .601 vs .554. Further, Sabonis averaged 7 assists a game but his turnover rate was about the same as Nurkic. He averaged 2 more assists a game than CJ, with a lower usage rate. You'd want the ball in Sabonis' hands more than you'd want it in Nurkic's hands

this thread will be revisited next season if nurk gets bigger role

looking forward to it

also, domantas sabonis is a hybrid, a mix of power forward and a center, hes not pure center like nurk

just like bam adebayo and anthony davis

Well i think it's an advantage to be a hybrid than a true center nowadays. Although the most important issue with Nurk is availability first and foremost. He has played same amount of games with Sabonis although he is a pro two years more.

im just saying its not really fair to compare sabonis and nurk

for example, sabonis is much quicker and better ball handler than nurk, which has everything to do with him having power forward characteristics and nurk doesnt have that, so its not like sabonis is more talented than nurk in that particular area, its just that he has that in his locker and nurk doesnt, cause those are not characteristics for a centers
