Heh, these things have been here for years, barfo. I don't think I've added anything that has been erected in the past 8 years. Oh, yeah, the tram. Sorry.

And no more will be erected if your candidate gets elected. You celebrate past spending of taxpayer money on public works, but you'd rather have the cash than invest in anything new. Maybe your grandchildren can post pretty pictures of your wallet in the 2050 version of this thread.

Taxpayers have to make money to spend it.

Chicken/egg?

PS: Why you hijacking this thread, man? ;)

And it's not just the tram. South Waterfront certainly had government involvement. Saturday Market got a new home, with government involvement. The pile of zoo bomber bikes are tolerated by the government, they wouldn't be in other places. The light rail lines were government-created. The eastbank esplanade was government created. The Made in Oregon sign was preserved with government involvement.

Thanks for the reminders. I'm just all giggly inside.

Because I'm a cranky old man, and I think it's useful to point out why those pictures look the way they do. But I'll stop now.

A lot of this pictures you posted, if not all, are pre-2004, right before the construction boom.

The Old Town sign will go from 'Made in Oregon' to 'Portland, Oregon' this November.

The "for lease" sign adds a little humor, don't you think?

I can actually remember the smell of the fountain from the galleria when i was like 5...that chlorine smell sticks with ya' forever.

Target isn't for white trash. They have a good ethic and vibe. Better than an empty building.

There is a Fucking marshals or Ross dress for less. Target is upscale compared to them.

There's nothing wrong with Tarshay.

Also, Sam Adams has blocked Wal-Mart a few times from opening up shop on the edges of Portland. It's pretty clear he's not Pro Wal-Mart.

The massive eyesore (70's Burger King) on Broadway & Burnside is finally gone.

It'll be home to the new ($20m) Broadway Recover Center.

Dude, that "massive eye sore" was my drunk food of choice when George and Taki ran out of gyros at Satrycon.
