How? Monroe chose before Aldridge.
You're a good soldier for repeating the company line. However, Aldridge was in the middle of a shitload of meetings. From an outside perspective, the writing was on the wall....

When its all about money, Texas >>>> Oregon
Must be. If so, good for him and probably good for us too.

Just thinking, he is a perfect fit bball wise, and we have a terrific culture on the team with stable ownership and a coach that provides all the freedom he'd desire. If he can't see that, and instead selects a middling team with a questionable future, then the $ has to be the only reason.

With free agency starting at 12:01 a.m. tonight, Hassan Whiteside has scheduled meetings with the Dallas Mavericks and Portland Trail Blazers in the next 24 to 36 hours, and the Heat also very much remains in play for his services, according to someone with direct knowledge.

Whiteside has received interest from a bunch of teams, but to this point, he has agreed to meet with only two besides Miami: Dallas and Portland.

He met with Heat president Pat Riley a couple of weeks ago and might meet again with Heat officials sometime over the next two days, possibly in New York, where Pat Riley will be to meet with Kevin Durant on Sunday.

Woj knows more. He said he's down to Dallas and Miami. So that's that. Woj is the best in the game all this other stuff don't mean anything.

We were never going to get Whiteside or Horford.

Let's focus on Dwight Howard. His stock is low right now that even a market like us as a shot
This report from Miami is from a person with "direct knowledge" and came an hour after Woj tweeted.

In what universe is a decrepit DAL better than POR?

Seriously, Hassan?

Older than 'Dirt' Nowitzki
Not so IronMan anymore Matthews
Zaza Pachulioil
Raymond un'Svelton

...seriously, for the $945,000 dollars that makes in tax between Dallas and Portland, it really shouldn't be close.

I really dislike your posting style.

The reason i still have hope is simple :

IF reports are true he is still meeting with the Blazers then he is not down to just the Mavs and Heat cause if he is looking to make a choice quickly why would he waste his time with a team that has no chance. Do the Blazers have work to do ? yes but they had that anyways cause they are going against cities like Miami , Dallas and maybe even LA. However i will say it again while it might be a up hill battle i will not count out Olshey and the Blazers and until i see otherwise i will still believe Whiteside is a real option.

ALSO from a miami heat beat writer :

Ira Winderman @IraHeatBeat
Hassan Whiteside's 3 initial meetings at the start of free agency will be with Heat, Blazers, Mavs, source close to the situation confirms.

Meaning the Blazers still have a chance

Cause there is no chance your reading into a freakin tweet a little too much.

I feel like that tweet could be viewed as he is focusing on his first meeting at the moment.

I wouldn't say we have NO chance with him until he cancels the meeting with us. given our history do our chances seem low, absolutely. but if there is a meeting, there is still a chance.

I'm not saying Woj isn't great but his word isn't the damn gospel. Chill out. He might tweet something later that gives you all hope again.

Just because our chances may not be high at the moment, free agents can be swayed differently at any time especially if we get that meeting with him which it sounds like we will get. Considering that report says we have a meeting and I don't even see the Lakers name in there is a win in itself. If Neil plays his cards right no reason he cant change Hassan's mind.

He's meeting with only Dallas and Portland out of all interested teams and y'all are already down. C'mon man.

That Portland is in the discussion with Miami and Dallas would have been unheard of a couple of years ago for a FA ranked as high as Whiteside. Certainly trending in the right direction. Now it just takes one to open the floodgates.

Well so far Olshey is 0/2 when it comes to #1 targets so I'm hoping for the best but expecting nothing.

I kinda hope Dame and CJ will be there too.

We all might not be agreeing about Whiteside atm but i think we can agree with this :

Let's all have a laugh at the Lakers who at the moment have been left out in the cold for Whiteside -- ROFL -- LOL
Don't forget Durrant

Are you talking about Kanter from last season? Because I don't quite consider that as a miss by us, we reached a deal (max at that), but OKC chose to match it. Nothing we could have done. Is there someone else Im forgetting last year?

Spencer Hawes
Greg Monroe

I don't count RFA like Kanter and Hibbert cuz like you said, nothing Portland could've done.

Ok gotchya. Forgot about Monroe.

Which part of Alex Kennedy's tweet do you like better?

A: That Portland is one of the 3 teams Whiteside is meeting with?
B: That Whiteside won't be meeting with the Lakers?
