Amtrak Train Question

We will be in Philly next Monday for like 3 nights. We were wanting to shoot up to NYC and were thinking of taking the train. I honestly have never hopped on Amtrak and was wondering if anybody on here had much experience in the NorthEast and if that would be a good way to go. Just a day trip, back by that night. Thanks!

me and two friends took amtrak from boston to nyc last summer and i loved it. it was the last leg of our trip and it was cool, easy and cheap way to get from one city to the next. nyc isn't that far from philly and i'm sure it would be an easy way to spend the day in the city. i didn't even know that the main amtrak hub was right under msg until we got to the street level, i started looking around and bam i was standing right there.

The wife and I recently took AmTrak from Vancouver to Seattle. Loved it! Absolutely LOVED it! Great legroom and muchos comfortable seats. If you're interested, they have a lounge/bar car. Quick on and off the train. Much more comfortable ride than I had anticipated.
