Absorb salary in a trade.

Looking at the available free-agents, using the cap in a trade looks like it's the best option.

Mods, can you switch In to An <---

Sure. Who needs to dump salary, and what can they pay us in return.

Jason Quick: Blazers' free agent plan is Hibbert or nothing, GM Olshey says. Focus now turns to trades, where Blazers can make an uneven financial deal 1 minute ago

Oh, and preferably someone not on the downside of their career before El Pres comes in here spouting off about Iggy

Eliminates the thought of McGee, or Lopez or whatever.

So sounds like this is, in fact, their plan B

I'd look at teams looking to shed Salary (Atlanta and Horford?) or teams trying to get rid of a headache (Sacramento and Evans?)

Horford would be intriguing, but Evans and Lillard paired in the backcourt seems like it would't profit Aldridge much.

"I don't see the guys who fit the criteria we are looking for,'' Olshey said of free agent market. He wants young, All-Star caliber player

So we can stop talking about old man Iggy

What would they want though? What do we have? Can't trade our pick this year

it would have to be a pure salary dump for a second round pick or one of the throw-away players on our roster (i.e. pretty much everybody besides LA, Lillard and Cooney).

he's a year older than Aldridge.

PG: Lillard
SG:
SF: Batum
PF: Aldridge

Move Batum to SG and look at Rudy Gay? There are many options out there.

Blazers' cap space can be used to execute uneven financial trade with a team that wants to shed salary. Center will likely come this route

Unfortunately, about the only thing good we have to offer via trade is cap space.

Unforuntately, I don't believe there are any good centers available via this route.

It's not exactly the same situation, but it should be noted that it was this kind of flexibility that allowed the Thunder to pick up Eric Maynor for a song from the Jazz ... who knows what will happen, but something might turn up?

I would think you guys would be pissed if Olshey matched a $45 million deal for Batum now. That's a lot of buck to tie up on a guy that averaged 13.9 and 4.6.

too bad Hawes is off. looks like Kaman is the target. unless we get into the D12 sweepstakes and take back lopez somehow.
