Sure, but you want to give yourself the best chance possible at getting Flagg.... or Bailey. And the worse you do, the better your chances that you at least won't drop out of the top 5 picks. Being the Pistons is a worst case scenario and it sucks when that happens, but that's part of the deal. But this draft has some insane talent, even at #5.
Fair enough, I’m not sure who is really in this draft outside of Flagg and Bailey to be honest. I’ll scout some videos on the top 5-6 talents in this draft.

But regardless what we do with our roster, trade xyz or keep the current roster, we most likely will be getting a high draft pick regardless, because well we suck unless Scoot and Sharpe make huge leaps.

It’s luck, but you know that.

If I knew 100% if we tank next season we’re getting Cooper, then ya I’m down.

But what if we get 3rd? 4th? 5th pick?

We got the 7th pick, 3rd pick and 7th the last 3 drafts and here we still are.

I just don’t know why it’s “we need to tank so we can get Cooper”

There is no guarantee in the draft.
The '25 draft is loaded.

Picks 1-5 would have ALL gone #1 last month. (Flagg, Bailey, Harper, Traore, & Edgecombe)

I'm guessing that all 5 would have gone #2 behind Wemby a year ago.

Yeah - there's no guarantee of success in the draft... or in life. You just have to play the probabilities and take your best shots of getting where you want to go.

Who needs a C? Simons to Detroit for ivey and Stewart and some pick compensation. Stewart to C needy team for other assets?

Reactions: ant
Man you can’t talk any common sense with the 3-4 same guys that want Ant traded at all costs.

They have consistently been debunked and hypocritical in the way they bash our roster but praise a similar roster, aka that Sharpe Triumph dude who praised the Rockets roster which was so typically of these pretend GM’s on here that think they know more than everyone else that works in the front office for a NBA team yet always putting their foot in their mouth.

We need to start another thread so they can whine and cry all season when Ant is still on the roster hehe.
It's funny you single me out because I'm actually defending Ant for many years here and I'm fine keeping him on the roster if we can't get value for him.

Even if we tank for Flagg odds are we won't get him. But odds are much better we might, and the other top picks are great as well.

It's a 30 team league so whatever strategy the Blazers do is unlikely to get a title. I'd prefer the path that is most likely to get us a contending roster eventually. If you prefer middling playoff roster with no chance to contend that's your preference. Neither direction is inherently right or wrong.

the RealGM poster, who was the first person anywhere I saw that said the Blazers were going after Avdija, said today that Detroit has shown interest in Simons and is doing their due diligence. Nothing is imminent.

unfortunately (if you want Ant traded), the Pistons don't have an available 1st till 2029....there's that year again
There was interest before hiring Langdon (June 1st), don't know how substantial their interest is now but he makes sense for the timeline and roster construction.

3rd, 4th or 5th pick next draft likely gets us a player with a higher ceiling than anybody on our roster (barring Sharpe going alpha MJ).
