Agreed. I actually think it started back during Obama's presidency, but of course every Liberal disagrees with that, so...

I think, however, that if it's something we can ALL agree on: politics is very poisonous in general. And I don't anticipate it getting any better anytime soon.

What you just posted is blanket statements. "White people for all the problems" "Everybody is racist" "If you are a gun owner".

Our policy is that it has to be about the PERSON on the forum. If editing/deleting blanket statements were the case, I'd of deleted about 75% of Marazul's and Maris' posts. Making blanket statements doesn't have anything to do with a singular person on this board. It's an opinion they have on a category of people. If they talk about how they hate that person directly, theres the issue.

People have ripped into things I believe in and rights and all of that, but I keep them up because it's not about me personally, even if I personally believe it. It's their opinion. So if you're wanting a mod to delete things and create a place of suppression, then we're the wrong mods for you. Opinions and personal insults are completely different.

All these posts and editings seem to be holding people accountable for breaking the rule we have now. What you want is an absolute abolishment of any statement from anybody that could be baiting, blanket or not.

You are free to have that opinion.

You seem to have a failure of connection between the reality of the situation and the opinion with which you have.

We can absolutely talk about blanket statements being taken away. I don't like them either. However, that's putting a blanket over the blanket statement, to which then we'd have to thwart any and every one that could subjectively and objectively be taken as baiting.

Comparing the members in here with ANTIFA is just wrong. It would be similar to comparing the Right wingers in here with Nazis. I would never even consider lumping you with any of those fools.
The whole racism thing has been pretty one sided. Maybe not entirely one sided but lopsided nevertheless. Try driving home at night and getting stopped on flimsy excuses several times. Try getting stared at in the store because you are suspected of being a candidate for shoplifting. Try getting the cold shoulder from people because they don't like your looks. Black-Americans get this treatment with regularity while you and I don't. I suspect you have no idea the crap those folks have to put up with.

And it's BOTH sides. I'll be the first to admit that a gun forum is not the most open-minded place to be. Even worse when you include conspiracies about the Las Vegas shooting and other mass shootings.

I even called out a member this week for being openly racist. Saying things like blacks need to be driven from power, white people are oppressed (we're NOT), and that black people would be in prison if it wasn't for athletics and athletic ability. And I've put a notice to the mods to keep an eye on him and his behavior. It's quite alarming and very disturbing.

But that's NOT most gun owners, and it's NOT most Republicans.

I imagine it's much the same way in a place like Lipstick Alley and DU. But that doesn't justify any of it at all, regardless of which side it is.

I had someone, several people actually, on GlockTalk tell me just last week that there is no such thing as a Moderate anymore; that both sides have drawn battle lines.

I don't think that's true. But I do think there needs to be more moderate people on both sides.
