I don't like nova launcher or google's or any of the 5 others I tried.

Some advertise that they (almost!) work as good as iOS.

They don't.

I like having tons of icons on my screen and smaller in size. Just like the customizability on them as I tend to use a ton of apps and don't like putting them in folders.

Widgets are also good to have.

Man, it's so hard to keep things straight (no gay pun intended) these days relative to the great divides of our society:

Conservative/Liberal
Religious/Atheist (including agnostic subset)
Capitalist/Socialist
Pro-life/Pro-choice
Pro-guns/Pro-regulation
Pro-"Undocumented" Immigration Amnesty/Deport 11 million "illegals" and build a great wall
Global warming believer/denier
iWhatever/PC
Pepsi/Coke
Boxers/briefs
.... ad infinitum.

I need to make a list so I can keep up with my canned talking points.

Most of the widgets are crap. The built in one on the tablet doesn't render the weather info right in portrait mode.

You don't have to use folders on iOS. I prefer just the one home screen and not having to hunt to find an app on many screens.

Search works on iOS. Swipe down on the home screen and the search box appears. Type in partial name of app and you can select it from the search results, no matter what screen or folder it is in.

All of the apps, apple or 3rd party look like apple made them to be part of the OS.

I used to buy the "you can build a higher spec computer out of parts" argument, but you don't get to run the best software. This is true of phones, too.

My 5s has been great, but I want more battery, bigger screen, better camera, and faster experience. Moving up from iPhone 3 to 4 to 5 has been an improvement all the way around. I expect the 6 to be equally a great experience. Based upon the sales figures and customer satisfaction figures and people switching to Apple, my expectations are high.

Using android has been a step down and backward, no matter how good the hardware. If you are a casual user, it may not matter.

I don't go out and just buy anything apple. I don't have or want a watch. I'm undecided about the tiny MacBook.

Man, I'm so boring when it comes to phones....

I talk on it. I use it for reddit and tapatalk. I use a couple apps. That's it. That's all I do.

I'm a pretty power heavy user. Truth be told, the swappable battery is probably the most important feature for my uses. I do that a lot. I like having the temperature outside displayed in my status bar at the top of the phone all the time, on every screen. I don't believe you can have that on iphone. I use evernote widgets as well.

I have my entire google calendar schedule at a glance if I swipe left without having to open up a display. Multi-city temperature widgets, as well as different time zones. Just that much easier swiping instead of having to open an app.

Just little things you can do to make your day go more efficiently.

Its not for everyone. Iphones are probably best for very simple users that like everything in simple layouts. Its good for my aunt that gets confused with technology. Its very simple and straight forward.

I have the need to do a bit more, therefore I need to customize. For example, I have a digital camera that connects via Wifi, but I can pair them using NFC technology. Just makes it easier to tap the phone than go through the menu system but apple disables NFC.

I could live on iOS, but then again, I don't need to.

My wife uses the iPhone 6 and I use a Galaxy S5. Both have their advantages and both are great phones. That said, if you're wanting a major upgrade in cameras, I'd wait for the 6s. My Galaxy's camera kicks the crap out of her iPhone 6 both in resolution and in HDR ability for high contrast scenes.

Swipe down from top, with any application open.

I am getting a 6s+.

4k uhd pictures and video.

so you use the native email app? Gmail is so good.
No, I use gmail app. That's the only Google app I do use.

Any app can interface to notifications.

Gmail is is good only for gmail. Not exchange or hotmail or yahoo, etc. fwiw

16GB is nearly not enough space too, so the low end iphones are useless.

Apple is very inefficient with storage space with streaming services. I put almost no photos or media on my device and it fills up with streaming cache that you can't clear in many instances, you have to delete and reinstall the app to clear that memory. Happens quite a bit with my google music streaming, Sirius XM, etc.

Are you able to easily stream shit you got in the Apple Store too? It sucks on my ipad and I have like 100MBPs internet, apple TV is fine. Just puts way too much in the cache and eventually fucks it all up.

That will be a big upgrade over the 6. The pixel count is still less than the Galaxy (the Galaxy 6 has the 4k video too). I also like the full screen aspect ratio of the Galaxy as opposed to the 4:3 format of the iPhone, but that's a minor detail. Not sold on 4k video as practical. It takes up about 350MB of storage per minute of video. Uploading anything to the cloud is going to take some time and eat through your storage limits PDQ.

I stream from my iTunes library, iTunes in the cloud, and streaming services fine on my phone and iPad.

Apple doesn't do anything to cache data for apps. Most of the apps have a way you can set a cache limit. You can also clear apps' data from the system settings app.

Not all of them, some I have to uninstall and reinstall sometimes they take up 1 GB+ of storage space.

My ipad is a few years old though. Not one to upgrade frequently.

See, I'd rather just have a shitload of small icons that are organized by category than having to search for apps.
I don't use search much at all. If you want a dozen home screens without folders you can. If you have a huge number of apps, search can be handy in any case.

I have the 128g iPad and it's about half full. I have 4 seasons of a TV show on it that I binge watch while traveling.

The 64G phone should be plenty for most people. Enough for a few hundred apps and a sizable spotify cache.

I have an S6. Not a fan, as I've said. ios has settings to only upload when on wifi.

I calculated 8mb per second of 4k video compressed to 16mbit stream. 1000 seconds fits in 8G. I'd think you'd transfer the file to the Mac and use iMovie to edit it. 16mbits is Netflix quality uhd.

i might get that USB-C macbook. we'll see. either that or a macbook air

Regarding extra battery.

Jackery portable phone charger.

$29. Charges in about 2 hours. Will recharge my iPhone 5s 6 times before needing a recharge. Has a 1 amp and a 2.1 amp USB port. You can charge 2 devices at once. The 2.1 amp port charges my iPhone from 10% to 100% in about 15 minutes. I have a six inch lightning cable and I can use the phone while it charges.

The jackery itself can be recharged 10,000 times.

Thank me later :)

Same here. I'm perfectly content with my Galaxy S4, never have any problems with it. I was also fine with my iPhone 3GS before I lost it at a music festival two and a half years ago.

I have a few of these mainly used for air travel, etc.

Extra fresh batteries are still tons easier. I mean, a typical scenario is I'm out and about, I come home, battery drained a bit, and then I swap a new battery in before I go out. Ain't got no time to carry shit around. I did that before, shit is lame. If I'm going out for the night and it'll be a long one, I take an extra battery in my pocket.
