Apple Store vs. Microsoft Store

Seriously. So many people are so concerned about the specs on their computer, even though they'll never use them. It isn't neat to be able to tell your friends you have 24 virtual cores.

Here come Denny to tell me he fully utilizes his hardware using various IDEs.

This is the stupidest post I've seen on this site in a long long time.

Just moronic.

Idiotic.

Foolish.

Need I go on?

Its not even a consumer product yet. And they just released a 2nd version.

Though, I doubt I'd ever get one.

Even though I don't really buy into the idea of Google Glass, I love that they're trying to be innovative. Hell, I wish Google would bring Fiber to Portland. I would love to have a 1 gig internet connection for a decent price. I hate Comcast.

This country used to be all about innovation and cutting edge. I'm glad that some companies are still trying to carry that torch.

Oh, completely agree. I don't know if glass will catch on, but it will/could lead to something that is revolutionary. And I REALLY want Fiber to go national (or at least to a market I live in).

The only Apple product I've ever owned is an iPhone. I like my Galaxy much better.

I'll probably never buy another Apple product for the rest of my life. Every time I see one that's kinda cool, there's a better (or the same), and MUCH cheaper alternative available. Apple, as a company, annoys me for the same reason Nike does. The "fans" who freak out about how amazing it is and talk about and defend it all the time.

Annoys the shit out of me.

Agreed.

It's like they have to try you convince you that your personal preference is wrong and won't relent until they either result to name calling or linking a million fanboy write ups

This pretty much sums it up. You just described Mags to a "T"

It figures a Portland message board would be full of Apple hipsters

My MacBook Pro was delivered the day Lion came out. I paid $29 to upgrade the operating system. I've since upgraded to Mountain Lion, which cost me $19, and Mavericks was free.

Microsoft Windows 7 upgrade costs $189.

I have an iMac, too. All the software just magically appeared on it (iCloud) without me doing anything. I did have to install the OS upgrades, of course, but I didn't have to pay a second time.

Apple's productivity suite cost me $60. I get to run it on both computers and my iPad and iPhone, too, at no extra charge.

Microsoft Office 2003 upgrade costs $89.

On operating system upgrades and productivity software upgrades alone, I've saved at least $1,000 over what I'd have spent on Windows versions.

There are other apps I'd have paid for on Windows that I got for free for the Mac. Like SequelPro (free) vs. Navicat ($419).

I'm not at all saying that the hardware is superior. It's packaging is, and if you care about battery life and screen resolution and a better user experience, there's only one way to go.

Just remember Nate brought me into this. So actually, the mac user was defending the microsuck's irrational mud fest.

You mean like blazer fans?

Yes, if someone has the same level of fanhood for companies like Apple or Nike as they do for their favorite sports team, it's very annoying.

You just described Nate to a T! :devilwink:

His earlier comment backfired on him

Why do you let that determine how you feel about the company/team? Apple fanboys are annoying as hell. I still like my Macbook Pro. Android fanboys are annoying as hell. I still like my Nexus 5. Blazer fanboys can be annoying as hell. I still love the Blazers.

Actually I'm not loyal to any company like you are to Apple.

I have a Playstation.
I have a Samsung phone
I have a Dell laptop.
I have a PC that I built myself.

I'm not loyal to any one company. I buy what I like. I've just never been impressed with Apple. It's overpriced and I don't think the product justifies the price.

Psst, we are talking about teams, not companies. As you can see, your comment about my fandom being annoying to vanilla is just as annoying as yours with the blazers and 49ers. You wanted to use it as a negative response to me.

So take that... Next?

Eh, trust me, I'm nowhere near the fan I was when I was a kid. I only catch a Niners game when I can. It's not something that I watch religiously. I'm still a pretty hardcore Blazers fan, but I was so much more intense when I was younger. Covering the team almost killed my love for the team. It took a couple years to get the love back.

Don't downplay your backfire

How much of the Apple store phenom is that it's not super easy to buy Apple computers/shit?

I can go to Fred Meyer, Target and Wal Mart (tho I don't go to Wal Mart) and buy most of the Windows shit I'd want. Is that true of Apple?

They have this new thing called 'the Internet'. You should check it out sometime...

I think what you, and mags, fail to understand is that my computer is not a microsoft product. The OS is a microsoft product, but the computer is something I built with many of the same components that your computer has. The difference is that I paid significantly less for said components. Is the Apple OS better than Windows? In some ways, definitely, but it's also a personal preference.

I would just rather spend 800-1000 on a brand new system that is current, rather than spend 2k+ on something that is using components that I put in my computer two years ago. :dunno:

Do you make your own laptops? How much do they weigh?

barfo

You're leaving out one major key component to my argument.

I built my computer two years ago. Apple is selling those same components for at or nearly twice the price, two years later. In the computer world, two years is a long time, no?

I guess if I wanted a two-year old home built system, I'd buy it from you rather than Apple?

I'll keep that in mind in case I ever do.

People arguing about apple vs Microsoft remind me of republican democrat debates. A bunch of people getting pissy and defending a stance to the death when it doesn't matter. People have preferances.

Put any random group of people in a room together and its only a matter of time till they all pick sides and start trying to kill eachother.
