Let's remember that a Denver team that wasn't supposed to get out of the first round took the Thunder to 7 games. And the T-Wolves beat them by over 40 points. Maybe my memory's shot, but I don't remember things like that happening to the Jordan Bulls or even the peak Curry Warriors. I also have my doubts that Chet Holmgren is going to be available every playoff run...

Whenever a team is looking unstoppable AND has draft capital, that's when things go South. Think Boston getting Len Bias. Detroit winning the title and having the #2 pick in the best draft ever (and taking Darko Milicic when Dwyane Wade was right there).

Or: think of Orlando making the finals with a young Shaq and Penny, and everyone assuming they would win the next five.
I agree that you ever know. If you told me OKC would have to wait 13 years to get back to the Finals, I would’ve wondered what went wrong. They were set with young KD/RW/Harden. So you never know.

I disagree the Nuggets were supposed to lose in the first round. They had HCA and a championship core.

As for Jordan’s Bulls, they nearly blew a 3-0 lead in the Finals in their 72-10 year. And Steph’s Warriors blew a 3-1 lead despite having only lost 9 games in the regular season.

The Thunder remind me of the Drexler Blazers. SGA is Drexler, Jalen W. is Terry, Chet is Buck, etc. Them getting Caruso and Hartenstein was like us getting Ainge. They're just lucky that they're in a time with no Jordan-Pippen-Jackson Bulls
Or they ARE the Jordan-Pippen-Jackson Bulls! I disagree with the Blazers comparisons. Those players are nothing like the players you compared them to.

his health is the only thing that will prevent the spurs to dominate the next ten years. If healthy, Wemby will be ten-folds the dominance we're seeing from Jokic, and the spurs will supply him with help much better than the Nuggets did Jokic
Let’s not get carried away. Wemby will be awesome but hardly TEN FOLD better than Jokic. He’ll have a 300.00 PER?

Btw- are we responsible for OKC’s success? If Dame hadn’t hit that shot and we lost the series, would they have still traded peak PG?

Obviously their games are different, but in terms of "level of star" then I would say SGA is Drexler-level, etc.

I hated the Bulls. And I hate anachronistic comparisons. But the only reason OKC might win against those Bulls is because of modern training methods, not sheer talent and will. Do you really see the Bulls being pushed to seven games by Denver?

It's possible that OKC will be a dynasty, but I honestly don't see it. Boston last year had more of a look of inevitability than this Thunder team. I think the streak of "new champion every year" will continue next year.

Bulls lost for three years in a row to the Pistons then later to Shaq. Jordan never won a title until he was 28 - SGA is 26. Even years Jordan won a title they had game 7 against the Knicks and Pacers.

I'd certainly take the field over OKC next season - but they probably have a better chance than any other single team. The thing that makes them a possible dynasty isn't the talent in their starting lineup today, that is comparable to many title winners. Its all the youth and picks they have to get even better throughout the next decade.

I did forget to mention Dallas. With Kyrie, AD, Klay, PJ, Gafford and Lively, they’re definitely a win-now team. Their picks moving forward are not that clean. Kyrie at 32 could be gone in a year (opt out this summer is a lot of $$$). AD at 31 has 2 years plus an opt-out year of contract. They’re the only uber contract money. Making their fans happy should be priority 1. Gafford and Lively are fine moving forward with Flagg. Win-now and rebuild on the fly.

San Antonio? I’m trying not to think about them.
Fox, Vassell, Castle, Sochan, Wemby, Johnson, Barnes, and Wemby is already a playoff team. Harper and 14 is annoying. They and OKC are the future match-up … all about health.

It's all about health and depending on what we do this off season and how our young guys develop we might be the third best team in the West for a long period of time behind those two and that means due to health we could find ourselves as the second or even best team in the West over the next 10-15 years probably not starting next season but maybe as soon as the season after that.

Ok exaggeration, but assuming his health cooperates, him being DPOY in year 2 with his unlimited offensive gifts and skills, paired with an org that has has a long track record of excellency, I can see him replacing TD much like TD did DR. min 7 rings in the next 15 is what a healthy Wemby is going to collect. The dude has GOAT written all over him and he went to SA who has two lottery picks this year

Thanks to one of the top 5 most HORRIBLE trades in NBA history, the Thunder (I HATE them) are going to be good for awhile.

Anybody changing their opinion?

Thunder are crazy good today, youngest champ since 77 Blazers, clean cap sheet, tons of picks, and rookies like Topic coming next year.

Only question I have is when the league will get to where some teams just start punting on trying to win sort of like what happened during the Durant Warriors.
